Default 350z vs 2004 z06

Hey everyone. I recently traded in my tC for a 350z and had a suprising encounter last night. I pulled up next to a beautiful yellow z06, very clean, with a guy driving and a girl in the passenger seat. He was reving his engine and while I was completely aware that he had at least 100 horses on me I figured an opportunity like this is rare so I reved back. Then came the surprise.
Geen light. We pull away from the line and are dead even all the way through 2cnd! When we get to third he leaves me in the dust but I had expected that from the start.
Anyone have any experience with this matchup? Was he playing with me? My z is still stock (for now).

The C5 Z06's are no slouch. 400 bhp vs ~280 bhp. The guy probably toyed with you at the start or just took it easy so he wouldn't get any wheelspin.

They're impressive machines and the LSx engine has a huge aftermarket following so finding stock ones around here is almost impossible.

about 200 llb weight difference and 100+ hp difference between the two all in favor of the vette.

what are you people talking about?? the z06 is a 500 horsepower car that can compete with ferraris, and you guys think it is even with a z for two gears?? I think everyone is confusing it with just the coupe, which although not as beastly as the z06, it still puts out some serious power..

z06s run in the 11s in the quarter, a 350 cant break into the 13s.. this guys was definitely playing if it was a z06, and even if it was the base corvette he still would have killed you..

so yea the z06 has 200 horses on the z.. which means there no way it would be a close race..

2004 C5 Z06 is 400bhp. The C6 Z06 is 500bhp.

A stock C5 corvette is ~300BHP and a stock C6 is ~400bhp.

That's pretty much what I thought. Easy through first and second = easy on tires and clutch.

at least complete annihilation that couldn't even be considered a race is more interesting than the "TC vs Civic" threads

There's a twin turboed Z on streetfire that makes a new Z06 look stupid! I loved it!

More fun is when you see in person a modified Audi S4 Avant (Sport wagon) dominate a heads/Cam/Intake/Exhaust Trans Am.

I thnk it managed to run high 11s here in this crappy north Texas air.

Then you could argue the Lingenfelter Z06 which has over 800hp could be competition, but then you'd be arguing a 3.5L v6 twin turbo against a 7.0L V8 twin turbo. My odds on the Vette. And did I mention Lingenfelter holds a 2-year 24,000mi warranty on said 800hp? But still, with all that money, time, work, and expense, my cheap motorbike is still faster

that's 800 dialed back right, over 1,000 on full "safe" boost right?

actually, you're shifting out of 3rd to 4th at 124mph, I've driven a Z06 a customer let me drive when I was detailing his car. They're geared high, but not THAT high. 1st tops out at 60 and 2nd tops out at around 90 or so, wasn't paying attention.

I thought that was strange, but that's what Motor Trend said, "Shifting into 3rd at 125mph"
