Default Chicago Region SCCA Autocross School 2-3 Apr

Yours truly will once again instruct 2 lucky fwd drivers!

I hear another Scion is showing up for the first time in FOUR years! (Although I haven't seen one response from the SL regional page...)

THE CHICAGO REGION
SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICA
SOLO PROGRAM

A fun, inexpensive and safe way of testing your driving ability and car performance. Solo events are a form of automotive competition in which one car at a time negotiates a prescribed course in the shortest possible time. The events are open to anyone who has a sports car, compact or small sedan. The only requirements to compete are a valid state driver's license and a car which will pass a safety technical inspection. Drivers compete in numerous car classes for stock street cars, modified street cars, race prepared cars and modified race cars.
THE LEARNING CURVE

Chicago Region Solo drivers school is an excellent way to learn about and become involved in Solo events. It is a two-part school that consists of a classroom session and a day and a half of on track instruction. Instruction will be provided by experienced, award winning drivers (many with National Championship credentials). Because the entry is limited to only 100 students, there will be a very favorable student/teacher ratio allowing for maximum driving time and personal instruction. The school is for novice drivers with less than one year or no solo experience. Students must attend both days.

Registration has been open about a week at motorsportsreg.com
12 cars are registered, including 2 new Street Touring cars.
Not suprisingly, NO Toyota products.

You can do it!

Cool!

Just noticed you drive an RS 5.0.
I wanted one, but couldn't swing it, so I bought a BSP '07
We had THREE RS 5.0's at our fall show!

Cool. Ya rs5 have a few mods coming in before the school. Have the trd struts that are going to be ordered Friday and the Trd brake pads for the oem calipers for better stopping power. Have the trd springs so the shocks will be a nice touch. Also need to switch my sway bar settings from street to the track setting. Wanted to auto x all last year but go to busy to do so. So this year will be trying to push it a lot. I'm in a auto tho Hoping I can just put it in 2nd and leave it there. at least that's what people say when they have a stick shift.

You'll be fine. No need for huge mods while you're learning. The more responsive your car is, the harder it will be to control it at the limit.
The first run after I installed Konis on my xA, I spun it at the first corner...At Learning Curve...with my student riding shotgun...
He learned the car isn't going to roll...
As far as your auto, the guy who won Street Touring last year (and beat me by 0.8 point) drives an auto RSX...
You're right, you'll probably never hit third.

SCCA has a limited number of well-used loaner helmets. VERY well-used...

You can buy an HJC motorcycle helmet for about $150 from your local motorcycle shop...

I've always wanted to do that, Tony... I need tires bad, and I think I may be losing a wheel bearing though... probably not great timing.

I'm hoping to have a couple things settled, before the season, but I may run as "slightly more than stock"

You don't need to have a helmet to sign up
