Default CLASH OF THE SCIONS!! Update: Online Registration

Scion South Presents:

Clash of the Scions

This is a SCCA Solo/Autocross event run by the Central Kentucky Sports Car Club of America and sponsored by Scion South.

What is an Autocross?

Autocross events are auto-racing events generally at low to medium speeds. Courses for autocrosses are usually setup on large, flat parking lots. Pylon cones are used to lay out the track.

One car at a time runs the course with one basic goal: complete the course as quick as possible.

All vehicles that enter an autocross have a specific class they run in. However, for this event we will be running a Scion only class. Which means you don’t have worry about competing against anybody but other Scion drivers.

Since autocross is a not for profit event everybody working the course while you are running is a volunteer. This means at some point during the day while you are not running you will be required to work. All Competitors Must Work. Run-work order will be announced at the driver’s meeting, and the worker chief just before the beginning of each heat will announce work assignments. You must check in prior to working.

Working can be to your advantage the best example is: working before you run. If you work before you run, you should have a chance to see other cars run through the course before you run. This might give you the opportunity to avoid making mistakes that others are making before you ever drive the course yourself.

How does the Scion Class work?

With in the Scion Class we will index the times to allow for the differences in tuning and upgrades between Scions. By indexing, we are able to compare a 200hp turbo xA to a bone stock automatic xA or any other Scion. We will need to know ahead of time what type of performance modifications you have done to your Scion for the indexing to work properly, so please register early.

How much does it cost?

Normally a local autocross would cost around $30, but if you are one of the first 15 Scion owners to register, Scion South will pay for your entry fee. That’s right FREE entry for the first 15 Scion owners to register! Which means even if you aren’t the fastest on the track, if you are fast and register quickly you might still win, sort of.

When is it?

July 29th 2007

Where is it?

Eastern Kentucky University Richmond, KY

Trophies will be awarded for:

Fastest Overall Scion (Index Time)
Fastest Overall Scion (Raw Time)
1,2,3rd place xA (based on index times)
1,2,3rd place xB (based on index times)
1,2,3rd place tC (based on index times)

Prizes will be awarded for:

Fastest Overall Scion (Raw Time) $200 Gift Certificate
Fastest Overall Scion (Index Time) $200 Gift Certificate
Fastest xA (based on index times) $75 Gift Certificate
Fastest xB (based on index times) $75 Gift Certificate
Fastest tC (based on index times) $75 Gift Certificate

So if you think you are fast driver or if you think your Scion is fast get registered. Because, when it is all over, Scion South will be handing out trophies and prizes to the top Scion Drivers and who dosen't like trophies and prizes.

Or you could come out and watch me put Mr. ScionSouth in a skirt Thats right I said it....I will be codriving with ScionSouth and if he gets beat in his car by a girl he must wear a skirt....which could be quite entertaining in of itself

And anybody else who wants to take on a rookie girl driver, I'm game.

Here's a video from one of my runs this past Sunday. It was hosted at this exact same venue, so you can get an idea for the lot size/pavement.

PS - driving a borrowed car

Yep, there are still some spots available.

Our entry list so far is as follows:

Driver/Car/Class

Mark R./tC/HS
Don M./tC/HS
Eric T./tC/STS
Chris K./tC/STS

So there will be plenty of tC competition.

I need some xA and xB people to step-up. There are plenty of people out there with go-fast stuff on their xAs and xBs. You know you are out there get signed up, drive for free, win, and take home free stuff.

My G.F. and I are running but not for Scion trophies:

Jonathan S./tC/HS
Raina V./tC/HS

I can't compete since I'm organizing the event and Raina can't compete because she hates seeing guys cry after she beats them.

Attention xA and xB owners:

As of 7/23 there are no xAs or xBs entered to race. If you own an xA or xB and you are even somewhat interested in this event get registered.

At this point if you are the only xA or xB to enter and compete you will win your class and the prize and of course you don't have to pay to compete. Yes some of you might have to drive a litter further to get here but, you get to run for free and there is a good chance that you will also walk away with a gift certificate to buy some more upgrades.

So what are you waiting for?

This isn't a trick or marketing gimmick. We just want to see some Scion owners come out and have fun.

What a day!

It turned out to be great day for Scion drivers. With 4 Scions finishing in the top 10 on PAX out of 83 entries. tCs were in the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 9th spots. Great results considering the Central Kentucky Region has several national caliber drivers and SCCA National Trophy winning drivers. Wow!

Thanks to all of the Scion people that came out to have fun. Chris Kallmeyer did an amazing job in his tC and has the $475 in Scion South gift certificates to prove it. Eric Thomason looked much happier once Raina got him off the OEM tire and hooked him up with some STI rubber. Then Raina proceeded to go out and put down several fast runs herself. The Powers family Green Envy xB had it's first taste of life in the fast lane and I think it liked it. Mark and Don seemed to be pushing each other pretty hard and learning a lot about the car in the process. We also had Cindy Duncan a 2006 SCCA National Trophy winner drive a tC for the first time. She quickly got up to speed and looked very comfortable with the quick times to prove it.

We may have to change the name of the event from "Clash of the Scions" to "Invasion of the Scion" if the Scion continue to dominate the competition.

Thanks again to all the Scion competitors for coming out.
