Default Glen Region AutoX First Event!

Today was our first event of the season and it went pretty smooth. Weather was iffy for most of the week and it rained a bit yesterday and very early this morning... but the wind helped to dry the course and the sun helped out later on.

We were at the Seneca Army Depot airstrip, so we had a good course and a lot of open space. I think there were 49 drivers and we ended up getting 8 runs and still finished runs by 4:15.

If anyone has not been following my other threads... I've changed a bit from last year. Hotchkis springs are gone. Replaced by H&R Sport springs and Tokico struts. KDWs are gone and replaced with Falken Azenis RT-615s.

Last year I never really had much regular competition... I'm still unsure if I will this year, but there were actually 5 drivers in my class (STS) including myself. And thankfully I came in 1st (by a good margin too!). I'm waiting on the official results to post on the website... but in the meantime, here's a video of my best run (the last one).

I finally got a Cruise Cam to mount my camera... but my camera is still a crappy little digital camera... plus, I think I need to put my windows up when I record. Stupid wind...

Anyway... that's my day. And it was fun.

I was a closer to a lot of people than I had originally thought. Turned out to be a good day. And here are a few pics that one of our spectators took (which include a few of me):

nice!

if you want competition, come to Chicago or Milwaukee region!

Jason Frank, the nat'l STS champ hails from Milwaukee. I saw him drive yesterday - he's in a category all by himself. Competion was tight, but he was just way off the front.

Damned '89 Honda Civics!

Ya, there was a prepped 90 or 91 civic in my region at the start of last year that absolutely cleaned up not only STS but every other class. Usually got PAX and often beat some of the karts for FTD. The guy didn't like the car though and got rid of it (to my appreciation). Now I at least have a chance when there is competition.

I don't know if I'd like another region... especially a large one. We had 49 yesterday and that was kind of high for us. We're usually in the 30s or lower 40s and it's nice. Things run smooth now and we usually get a lot of runs.
