Just Auto-x the tC in charlotte today
Hello all, this was the 2nd autocross for me and I have to say that it was awesome! Ive got Eibach pro kit springs so I ended up in Novice STS. I placed 8th out of 27 drivers! Not to bad for my 2nd time ever autocrossing. If i only had better tires, the tC would respond soooo much better! Still running on Stock Yokohamas and they suck! Thinking on getting a Progress rear sway but im not sure. Anyone use this swaybar for auto-x? Oh yeah, there was an auto XB out there today! The only 2 scions out there. He was a NOOB for sure! Never the less, it was nice to see another scion out there. Usually im the only Scion out at the track! Later all!
jk about the noob thing seriously! I was watching from the side and you seemed very smooth and consistant thoughout the cones. Have you autox before? next time you go to an autox around charlotte, hit me up sometime. later.
Great!!!! Now just drag some of you buddies out to the next one, no matter what they drive, they will learn to get better
Excellent results!!!
STS class allows 7.5" wide wheels, if you can get some unless you want to be in STX then 8" wide(any questions and I will double check the rule book)
You can fit a nice 235/40/17 on a 17x8 +35mm offset or,
245/40 or 45/17 on a 17x8 or 8.5 +45 mm offset.
I know just about all there is about tires for the different classes and have a rule book I can go to if needed.
Let us know if you need all season tires, Summer only(three seasons) If you drive alot or a little(stickier tires wear out sooner), if you can get wheels and tires together or just tires for now(budget), etc.
STS you can upgrade the rear sway bar so that is a good thing to do.
You can lower the car by changing springs, not to low though, be carefull there. Or you can use coilovers I believe but more costly.
You can also get a 14 lb battery for autocrossing days(will work fine all the time unless you put in a big audio system)
The batter will make a bigger difference than you can imagine, I know from experience;)
The tC has alot of potential and some issues like the heavy roof but the wide stance and long wheelbase help offset those issues.
Have to go for now but I am willing to help you in any way possible since you truly want to drive, not just point and hope to be seen
