Default Launch Tips

Hey guys, I'm looking into drag racing at a local track, and was wondering if you guys can help me out with some tips. I haven't done it before at a track, but after 3 speeding tickets in a year and a half, I've realized I need to cut the BS.

I was wondering if you guys can help and share your tips and quirks to help you get a good launch/60' time. I'm fairly confident I'll get a decent R/T, and be able to shift through with no problems. But the launch is the only think I'm having doubt with.

Thanks much guys.

I haven't tested their suggestion on my tC yet, but Sport Compact Car magazine said "2500rpm, dump the clutch and roll on the gas". Good luck.

i rev to 2300ish and do a quick slip of the clutch and roll into WOT at the same time. If you lay into the gas too fast, the car will start to spin, just let off a tad bit or push in a clutch a little bit (known as feathering). Takes a little practice, but you'll soon become pretty proficient. The tC really doesn't have enough power stock to spin much of anything past first unless you trying so just go for it!

I revv to about 3300 and keep the foot dead still until I let the clutch out, and from there it's all feathering and flooring, etc. It's really all about the feel, so after a few runs you should get the hang of it. Also, burning out beforehand helped me.
