Default raced a wrx a few days ago

i have the zpi stage 0 in my car.....i was making a left at a light, and this wrx behind starts revving up.....my gf was in the car with me, and she's like, "take him"....so i was like, ok, here we go....so the wrx goes on my right and guns it, while i gun it too.....i automatically hit boost in 2nd gear, and i pull ahead of him.....i was shifting a little under redline, like around 5800 rpm, and i slowly pulled ahead of him.....about 8 sec later, and well above 100 mph, i am about 3 car lengths ahead of him....we both slow down for the redlight, and he was ____ED! he thought he had that one easily, but muah ha ha....game over for him....FYI, i usually never race on the streets, and am a frequent autoX participant, but this is just one of those things that needed to be dealt with...full testimony that ZPI is kick a$$!

How much does that ZPI bump up HP? I am assuming it wasn't a STI, otherwise there would be a decidedly different outcome. Still a nice kill though,

wtf!, I just bought an 06 wrx, and right before i took my tC to its new owner, let my friend drive it and raced in the subie.Tc has a stage 0.5 zpi kit, pushing 10psi. Both launched at a light, the tC jumped on me( hey launching for wheels is a lil hard to get used to) but I caught up with him through 3rd and had 1/2 length by fourth..makes me think my tC was running sloooooooow

actually, my friend has a sti,and his dynoed stock at about 230-240 whp and tq....the stage 0 claims to bump the car up to 230+ whp so it would be a tight race....from dead stop, the sti can launch infinetly better cause of awd....the reguar wrx only puts 170 whp.....so even though those cars are turbo charged, they aint "that fast" ...but my race was from a roll of about 10 mph, and i actually short shifted first, i'm sure i could of beaten him from a roll by more....

No it really was a pretty good race with me. I know the guy that bought my tC really well so hopefully i can get a rolling start race out of him... The thing I noticed big time is how much slower the wrx spools in comparison with the zpi kit..After being used to the tC i felt like I could smoke a whole cigarette before the subie spooled up all the way lol

yep, the zpi gives you your power much faster....but in the top end, the sti and regular wrx will get you eventually.....now i got to work on beating those damn evolutions! haha

20g upgrade and 12psi and you will rape a moderately modded Evo.

i'm tellin' ya....look up the dyno for the stock sti, and you'll see that the zpi stage 0 after a little tweeking puts about the same numbers to the wheels...in essence it would be a very close race...

oyeah I know sti claim 300 but there more like 230 240 whp so. maybe 300 at the crank. most turbo'd tc from a roll will get a sti.

hmm, google "wrx sti dyno" and there a few graphs that clearly show peak awhp, etc....i went with my friend to get his dynoed, and his only got 233 awhp and 230 tq.....i don't think there could be that much of a difference in dynoes between each persons sti dynoes.....anyway....i started from a roll, and was mostly through my powerband by the time he hit boost....i just got to my power faster where as he needed time to get there.....
