Default Some autox videos of my 2006 Scion tC

Well, before you click the link please let me apologize if this video is poor quality, to large, too small, etc. This is the first time I have ever captured video off my camera and converted the files. I really don't know what I am doing, but the weather is crappy out so I am trying to figure it out.

If you change the view setting on google to "original size" the clarity is much better.

Anyway,
I'm a former Subaru owner, now a Scion tC owner. My tC is stock. This was my 2nd event in the car, and my first event on a larger course in a long time. Really my first time running the tC at these speeds.

Here is my best run of the day which was run #8 of the day (last one):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...96969920656328

This weekend I am attending a school (should be an excellent refresher, plus tons of seat time in the car), and an autox on Sunday if weather looks ok. This is the first FWD car I've autoxed. All my other vehicles were AWD Subarus.

Thanks,
Paul G.

good video man. 1:32 F**K lmaoo. FWD does take a lil getting use to. I drove my friends svx for a good while and it was pretty sweet. haha. school helps a lot but make sure you can trash those tires. Keep up the good driving.

Peacee.

Yeah, the course is about 1.1 miles long. A 1:32 was a pretty good time for having stock tires.

I had an underpowered Subaru with Falken tires before, so I never had to worry about modulating the gas. Just step on it, no wheel spin at all.

A completely different story with the scion. Modulating the throttle has been the hardest thing for me to used too.

The mount is a headrest clamp type from http://chasecam.com/. I don't see it on the website anymore, wonder if they don't make it now.

I'll take a picture of the setup tomorrow. I use a Canon ZR200 camcorder with the remote (so I don't have to kill myself reaching to turn it on/off).

Got to run to bed. Up early for the school tomorrow. The couse tomorrow and Sunday will be smaller, but I get video of all weekend and share.

Here are some pictures of the camera mount:

I don't think they sell it anymore, but you could make one pretty easily. I have the headrest mounted backwards to have more clearance when wearing my helment.

Was that autoX in Keene NH? I went to an autoX at an airport in Keene way back in 1985. It was hard on the tires, since it was basically a 1/4 mile straight, then a hairpin turn, then a 1/4 slalom, then another hairpin. Still fun tho.

Here is another video from last weekend. This is a much shorter couse, 2-laps, and this was my 2nd best run. Of couse I forgot to tape my best run.

The first video is from a location in Ayer, MA. The 2nd video I just posted was in a parking lot at NHIS.

Nice! I live in Harvard the next town over, is this track over on Devens? is it possible to come watch sometime, or do you have to be a member?

The clubs I run wth will allow you to watch, if you know someone on the drivers list. You can even come for a ride if you have a approved helmet (Snell 2000 or newer).

I'll post or PM/email you when I do my next event down at Devens. I think it will be sometime in September, but not sure.

Excellent that'd be great, everynow and again I'll see a group of cars coming outta Devens from the autocross, near the rotary. Just this week I saw three or four Miata's all done up, making their way to route 2. But yeah I'd really like to come watch and check it out. Definitely PM if you think you're going to be heading down to Devens anytime soon. Thanks Paul

It looks worse on the in-car footage. The first "long" video is just a wide open course, so it forces you to look ahead a bit more, and is also nice because there are different lines for different cars.

I always enjoy going for rides with folks, cause they will be like "If I tried that in my RWD mustang, I'd be off the course over there".

The couse is about 1.1 miles long, so even though it seem hard to see, it really isnt. Plus the couse is similar at each event and you get like 8 runs tooso you sort of get used to it.

There is a course map for each event. Here's an example:http://www.ae92gts.com/images/sfr_01_r18_map.jpg.

You get to walk the course before your runs, and that gives you a chance to memorize the course and figure out your line. Some courses are easy to navigate, and some are difficult--that's just part of the sport.

For anyone local to NH/MA who may be interested in meeting up with me at an event, please PM me. Some have.

I think I am doing an event in October. If I can get an idea on how many will come, I can email the club organizer and make sure it is ok. 1 to 2 folks is fine, but any more I should ask.

Awesome videos. I autocross mine and love it. I agree that that course look really hard to understand. It was alot of slaloms and cutback. With that much room they could have gotten REALLY creative with some long sweeping high second gear turns instead of alot of slow turns. Excellent work and yes wheelspin sucks in our cars.
