don't pop the clutch, feather it
lower the front tires
lose as much weight off the car as possible
practice, practice, practice

X2, 07's a lil faster that the 06's too. If you can master it u can hit low 15's. I was able to hit 15.3 on stock tires w/ removed axle back.

well, on the motor trend review of the 05 scion tc, they got their times by revving to 2500 rpms, dropping the clutch and feeding the throttle.

now there are lots of ways make the car launch better, poly motor mounts, torque dampner, zpi engine limitor, wider and stickier tires with a ...isn't it softer sidewall tires better for drag? and then the more expensive part to add is an limited slip differential.

oh yeah, you have a manual right? not an automatic, manuals are a whole second faster.

rev to 2500, drop the clutch, and work on your shifts. Once you master it that way then you can move up to 2700-2800 and feather the clutch. Leave the back tires at about 35psi drop the front to 26-28psi, and let them cool off after each run.Dont do burnouts before each run, that just heats up the tires and decreases their grip. But most of all, PRACTICE.

The heat makes the tires grip better by making the stickier. Heat is good for the grip.

on drag radials or slicks NOT street tires. The only benefit i would see with burning out on street tires is to remove any rocks or debris stuck in the threads.
