Jackson-Dawson Scion Team to Compete for National Title This Week at Mid-Ohio
Team Chases NASA National Titles in Both PTE and TTE
TORRANCE, Calif. — It’s been a long season of development for the Jackson-Dawson Scion team. Driver Dan Gardner, with the help of so many talented people, has been preparing the 2007 Scion tC for the week ahead, the NASA Nationals week.
The team will be competing in the extremely highly-contested PTE class in NASA’s Performance Touring series. PTE looks to have a wide array of cars such as Mazda Miatas, Dodge Neons, Datsun 260Zs, BMW 325s, Ford Probes, Nissan Sentras, Pontiac Fieros, and Honda Preludes.
"It’s going to be a heckuva race," said Gardner. "I knew the competition would be stiff, but it looks like it’s going to literally be a fight to the finish…all the way from start to finish."
In addition to the racing series, the team is competing for a National Time Trial Championship in the TTE class as well, which looks to also be filled with an eclectic mix of metal.
The competition takes place this week from Thursday, September 13 through Sunday, September 16. The schedule will be as follows:
Thursday, 9/13: Race Warmup, Time Trial Competition
Friday, 9/14: Qualifying Race, Time Trial Competition
Saturday, 9/15: Qualifying Race, Time Trial Competition
Sunday, 9/16: National Championship Race, 1:50 p.m. Eastern (10:50 a.m. Pacific)

NASA will have live timing and scoring so those that cannot make the event will be able to follow along in real time. There will also be a webcast of Sunday’s race from the start/finish line. Gardner will be taking crew chief, Chris Viscovich, to the event. Viscovich was an invaluable part of the winning formula at last year’s Nationals, and will certainly be an important part of the equation this year.
"We’ve been planning all year for this," said Viscovich. "The car has come a long way since it was delivered to us by Scion. It was just a brand-new street car with all the potential in the world. We think we’ve unlocked a lot of it, and we’re ready to see what it (and we) are really made of!"
The JD Scion tC is currently fitted with

• Nitto 235/40R17 and 225/45R17 NT-01 tires
• Enkei RPF1 17x8 wheels
• Recaro Pole Position Seats
• Progress Technology coilovers, rear swaybar, and camber bolts
• Dezod-supplied AEM standalone engine management, plug and play harness and stainless clutch line
• Kaminari carbon fiber roof
• Centerforce clutch and lightweight aluminum flywheel
• NST underdrive pulleys and shifter bushings
• AIT carbon fiber hood
• Wild Pony Motorsports-supplied camber/caster plates
• Goodridge stainless brake lines and oil cooler fittings and lines
• Carbotech XP10 and XP8 brake pads
• G-Force 5-point harnesses, racing suit, gloves, and helmet
• TRD limited slip differential, thermostat, and crank pulley bolt

• AEM wideband O2 sensor and controller
• Energy Suspension bushings and motor mounts

In addition, tire mounting, balancing, and repair are performed by America's Tire Co., tuning is done by i-Speed, alignment is performed by M-Workz, car care products are supplied by Mothers Polish, body work is done by Royalty Auto Body, team clothing is supplied by turn3, and dyno testing services are done by Harman Motive.
