Default ADMINISTRATOR REQUEST TO BAN UNETHICAL BUSINESS - RACERWHEEL

All:

This message is indented to protect other board members in addition to appealing to the administrators of this website by requesting their intervention in banning the following business from advertising on this site. Although I am disgruntled about the situation at hand, I will attempt to keep the information as factual as I can.

On June 16th I contacted Racerwheel to source a Greddy Supercharger kit for my 2004 Scion XB. Having located Racerwheel through the scionlife forums I assumed they were a legitimate dealer. Their asking price as of June 16th, as posted on the website was $2,629.00 (incorrect price is still posted to date). With shipping the total came to $2751.91. I called to order the part and spoke with an individual, who spoke very broken English, named “Jeff”. Before paying for the parts I requested they verify the pricing for this item (seeing as this was a very good price) and call me back to verify that the price was in fact correct. They called back within 10 minutes after “checking with their supplier” and verified that the part was in stock and the price was correct. So, like an honest consumer, I provided payment information. They were then to provide me with a confirmation of the order. On June 17th I called to receive a tracking number for the shipment. “Jeff” then stated that the previously quoted price was no longer valid and they would have to either charge me more, or issue a refund. I questioned why they had not previously disclosed this when I blatantly asked? When I received no apparent reason, I decided to take my business elsewhere and requested an immediate refund. I also requested that an e-mail verification stating that a full refund would be immediately issued. Amazingly, they would not agree on the first attempt to place the refund in writing. On June 18th I again called and requested a refund. This time I was hung up on. I called again and again and continued to request a refund. Finally, a “Jack” wrote a generic e-mail stating that a refund would be issued. However, on this same date my credit card began to show a pending charge in this amount. I then contacted my credit card company and they provided little help other than to state I can dispute the charge for the next 180 days. Thanks a bunch! One June 23rd the entire amount cleared my account. I again contacted Racerwheel and told them to refund my card. I also received a UPS notification stating that a warehouse somewhere in CA, but not the registered Racerwheel address online, shipped a package to me! However, the UPS notification also showed that the item is now being redirected now back to where it came from? What a mess!!! I again contacted my CC company and they said to just sit tight and dispute the charge. I contacted Racerwheel again and got the same broken English rhetoric and no action. After all this and I should know better by now, I looked their business up on the BBB. They currently have BBB 28 complaints and a “F” rating! They also go by the name of Mobile Parts Pro (BBB “D” Rating) and showofparts.com. Companies having such a gross history of unethical business practices should NOT be permitted to advertise and take advantage of other members in the Scion community. My request to ban this company is not only based on my personal experience, but a history of unethical and possibly illegal activity. I hope the board administrators take this notice to heart and do their best to protect others on the board.

P.S. If you Google map any one of their addresses you’ll notice that the businesses are located in residential areas when using satellite imaging. More than likely this is not a professional business but single, unemployed, 38 year old male goofball middle-manning parts out of the basement of his grandparent’s house.

great advice, and you kept it factual.
keep us posted as to what happens.

i know it sucks when you run into thease types of problems, even more so when you have alot of money tied up in it.

i had a problem like this and the guy was a member here as well as other scion only sites. he had a web site that stopped working after i placed my order and then he dropped of the face of the earth all together. i sent messages threw 2 different emails, paypal, and 3 different scion sites and he never responded to and of them. paypal rulled in my faver but only recovered $0.64.
man i was hot, i didn't know what elts to do.
i found another scion site were he was still active as a moderator and posted a thread asking the other members for help contacting him. thay all told me to get the f#ck out of there forum.
so i called paypal back and asked what elts i could do. they told me to call my local police and fill charges for interstate comerce fraud and that paypal would give every bit of info to the police.
i went back of that same forum and posted the officers name, phone #, the case #, and advised him to do what ever he need to do to made it right.
i reseved my part with in 3 days after that.
that was after almost 3 months.

maybe thats what you should do.
call your cc back and ask for contact info for you to give to the police.

skye911, will you give more details about racerwheel? We don't have a user by the name of racerwheel and I'm not aware of a sponsor that represents that business. Did you come across a user who is selling but is not a site sponsor? Or maybe follow a link found in one a ScionLife topic?

Well, to locate Racerwheel all you have to do is use the "shop for performance parts" pull down menu listed on scionlife. See it above?

It looks like the mods here are doing a great job and already removed Racerwheel. But to previously locate them you would have followed this thread to see their ad:

Scion/'04/XB/Superchargers/SuperchargerKit/Greddy.

They are still advertising faulty price online however: http://www.racerwheel.com/tp-11511501.html

What a mess, but I hope my CC company comes through as this will be a horribly expensive loss!
