Default chipzxb AKA Nick is nothing short of a 2 faced thief

If anyone should have Nicks personal Email or phone number, can you please pass along that im looking for either my RS1 grill or my $120 back?

1/6/09 - PM sent inquiring about the grill
1/7/09 - PM sent to me with all info
1/10/09 - PayPal sent to chipzxb
1/17/09 - PM sent to me stating that his wife had accidently sent the package from his local shipper ( did not specify ) and back to his home address.
1/17/09 - PM sent to Nick stating that accidents happen, and when/how would he be sending me the grill.
today 1/27/09 - PM still sitting in my OutBox. No grill. No refund.

* I also wanted to mention that he is a Mini Mod & fellow RS1 owner.

OK ladies and germs, here it is 3 weeks later and nothing. 2 weeks since i have heard from him and no grill nor a refund of my $120.

As mentioned above i did try to reach him via his Email address over a week ago and never heard back. I asked Tomas to contact him as Nick is listed as a MINIMOD and possibly Tomas would have access to some information that i dont have. Tomas sent Nick an Email and no sooner then an hour Tomas gets a reply Email.

" Chris didnt get his grill yet? Im going to have to go down to the Post Office today and find out what is going on. " - Nick. This was the Email from Nick to Tomas. Turns out the Tomas used the same Email as i did. Nick is clearly not answering my PMs nor returning my Emails because he has spent my money and doesnt want to send me the grill he has listed.

So after getting Tomas and some other Mods involved with this situation and starting the PayPal return/refund claim on the 31 i get an PM from Nick last night.

According to Nick the grill was sitting in his local Post Offices Lost and Found. I dont konw, but im pretty sure my local USPS doesnt have a lost and found. And one would think that with his return address on the package it would have gone back to him to begin with. So here sit again ... waiting.

BTW ... he doesnt blame me for filing the dispute with PayPal, and he really cant explain as to why he is acting this way. Can anyone here explain for him?

So guess what arrived yesterday ( 2/12 ) .. yep the grill. Much to my shagrin ... it was only wrapped in bubble wrap. Not 2 or 3 times around so it would stand a fighting chance against someone sending a bowling ball through UPS ... nope wrapped only once.

Needless to say, the grill is no longer in " mint condition. " Ill have pics up tomorrow for all to see.

Ok, so i goofed, he never said it was in Mint Condition. Below is a copy of the PM i recieved from him before i sent Nick the money.

Now heres the pics of my " perfect shape " RS1 grill.

Mine is at the top. Nicks is at the bottom. Mine is in Near Mint Condition. Nicks is not.

This is what it was shipped in. A single layer of bubble wrap.

Notice how well you can see through the single layer. He might as well sent it with nothing on it.

Notice how well the bottom part of the grill now touches the 2nd from the bottom piece of billet?

Not to mention that the hold in tabs at the bottom corners are bent as well as part of the top piece of billet. I waited 5 weeks and countless PMs and Emails for this to show up on my doorstep the other day.

But some of you might say ... " Well at least you got it." To this i reply, i did not agree to buy something i had to fix in order to make it look right. I did not recieve any notification as to the where abouts of this grill until it was brought up by a Super Mod here and PayPal inquirery. My personal PMs and Emails were never answered. Here i thought i was getting a great deal on a limited piece from Scion. A piece that retailed for $998.00 3 years ago, and is probably a lot more IF a Scion dealer can even get it any more.

To anyone out there who may be considering a purchase from chipzxb in the future, you cant say you werent warned.

Send it back pronto and tell him its coming back and claim fraund with Paypal for refund. Tell them it has been sent back.
Send it with tracking. That is much less $$ than eating the whole thing. He is a legit fraud.

And if you are paying with paypal thru a credit card, tell them also.

Total crap.

Product may have left origin undamaged, but just a single layer of bubblewrap seems insufficient packing to protect it in transit.

Yes grill took a while to ship, I do relize that and I will take the blame for that. However he did failed to mention that I told him I had surgery on my broken ankle on january 9th and was bed ridden for weeks.. Couldnt drive my car nor walk. I wouldnt sell a item in that condition nor ship it like that. The ups store were the one's that packaged the item.

Unless you type with your toes Nick .. you never answered my PMs or Email. Lets face it, the only reason you answered and shipped the grill half _ssed was because PayPal came knocking.

Yeah, you may have had a broken ankle, but you sure had no problem taking my $120. You could have passed along a note stating that you couldnt ship the grill out, and that you would leave the $120 in the account, not taking it out until you sent the grill. Course not, cause you wanted you money, and your grill.

Nick, if you gave that grill to a UPS agent and they wrapped it with one layer of bubble wrap and some tape ... and you paid for packaging ... then your a bigger fool then i first gave you credit for. But you would rather blame everyone else ( myself included ) rather then taking full responsibility.

BUYERS BEWARE.

x2

Sorry your item took so long to get to you man, I know thats frustrating. But Nick is downplaying it quite a bit when he says he just broke his ankle. That thing was devastated. I don't blame him for not even feeling like getting out of bed to go to the computer. Maybe you should post up your x-ray Nick? LOL

And I wouldn't go calling someone a fool over UPS's mistake. Its so busy in those UPS stores they hardly ever have time pack it in front of you, they set it aside and do it long after you have left. Sounds like he was trusting in his local shipper to package goods properly for shipping, that's their job, and unfortunately they didnt.

I mean, you did pay for and request shipping insurance, didnt you? In that case you should be able to file this whole damaged goods debate with UPS and get your $$ back from them for their mistake.

For now it sits downstairs next to mine. When the weather warms up i may try to bend it back. Im sure with a little heat and some wooden shims i may be able to get it back to where it needs to be. Or, ill wait until i should need it and have a body shop pull it out. It is alluminum after all.

Im always on the look out for this grill. The reason being that they were so dang expensive a couple years ago. I posted the part number here on SL somewhere a couple years back, and at that time the list price was $998. Im not even sure you can get the grill from Toyota any more.

Its not like i spent the money on the grill and needed it to pay the rent. I realize every time i purchase something online from a private party that i take the risk of not getting what i paid for. BUT ... like i mentioned above Nick did mention that he had a medical emergency and i understand things come up. With that said, as i also mentioned above Nick or someone speaking for Nick ( his wife or a friend from here ) could have let me know what was going on.

Put yourself in my shoes. You have a seller who is all ready to sell you something then when he/she gets their money you dont hear from them for over a month. Then when you do, you still dont get what you paid for. Now add to the mix that Nick is a MOD here on SL. As a mod it is their responsibility to log in every so often and keep track of what is going on here on SL. For those weeks Nick never logged on, not to answer my PM nor to see what was going on here on SL.

Calling Nick foolish for someone else not doing their job may be a little harsh. But here again, if you are in the business of moderating a website and share the same compassion for something wouldnt you go the extra mile to make sure the buyer was happy? I know i would, and have. No matter what i have sold here or anywhere else, i pack it myself and i provide the insurance and no cost to the buyer. Nick never so much as offered. If Nick just put the grill down on the counter and left .. then yes IMHO that is being foolish.

ok, I have been folowing this thread and it looks there is fault on both sides. Here's the thing, did you ever file a claim with UPS? They will kick you back a minimum of $100 regardless if you had insurance on it or not. I have purchased things and have had them take a long time as well. True he should have contacted you, but I think we can all understand why he did not. Not to say anyone would not have been upset not hearing from the seller for that amount of time though.

Finally, being a mod has nothing to do with this sale. I would suggest you drop that aspect of your complaint as attacking a mod is grounds for a warning.

^grounds for a warning? there is simply a statement of facts. This is the buyer seller forum right? Mod or not its still a legit complaint. Let him get out his frustrations.
