Default HUGE Thanks to Toyota of Tampa Bay !

First off, just want to say thanks to Chris (lost his card and forget his last name) at Toyota of Tampa Bay.

My experience starts at Kuhn Honda (also in Tampa, FL). My heart was set on a 2007 Honda Fit. The deal was done on the SVTF and it was with its new owner. The timing was perfect and the beautiful '07 Honda Fit Sport in Storm Silver Metallic was waiting for me.

I signed my papers and went on my way. 2-days later, my fiance and I notice a weird paint defect on the left rear quarterpanel. Definately something in the base coat, underneath the clear. No way this can be buffed out...this would need a complete repaint. Dealer agrees that painting is out of the question on a new car...so I have two options: 1. keep as is, or 2. trade for another Fit Sport.

I go with option 2. Find out later that there are none that can be found. Long story short, I get a 100% refund but I have some issues with the new sales guy who sold my Fit to another buyer before I even turned it back in (that is a completely different story and REALLY ____ed me off...but I'm not getting into that here).

Anywho... I have my money back but I'm out a car. No Fit Sports can be found ANYWHERE! No biggie, I like the xB and that was my second choice after the Fit. We call around to all the local Toyota dealerships...Courtesy, Stadium, etc all say it will be 2-4 wks to get an xB in.

My fiance frantically calls Toyota of Tampa Bay. We have a conversation with Chris over the phone. He says it won't be a problem and that he can the xB I want here in 1-2 days...if not, his dealership will put me up in a FREE loaner car! Talk about customer service, particularly since the guy has never met us in person.

We go there that same afternoon. He finds an RS 3.0 5-speed. I put the $500 deposit down and he states it should be 1-2 days, and again, if not then we will get into a loaner.

1.5 days later, Chris calls to tell me my xB came in AND that everything is good to go. Interestingly enough, they did a dealer trade with another local dealership who told me they didn't have any xB's and it would take 2-4 wks to get in. Hmmmmm....

So anyways, Chris made things fantastically easy and stress free. The finance manager also made things incredibly stress free. Again, I'd like to give a HUUUUUGE thanks to Toyota of Tampa Bay. The car buying process is usually a hastle...Toyota of Tampa Bay made it a joy. I'll definately recommend this dealership to ANYONE! And as long as there is a Scion/Toyota of interest for my future purchases, you guys have made a customer for life!

Sincerely,
Alan Anderson

Toyota of Tampa Bay (Precision Toyota/Kuhn Morgan Toyota as it used to be called) has great salesman, their service department on the other hand is terrible. I had my interior scratched by their service guys every time I took my car in, Had a dent put on my hood, and they broke the threading in my OBX shift **** (Dont know why they even needed to mess with it). I will never take my car there again.

Always nice to hear good things.

My Clearwater Toyota/Scrion wasn't as lovely as this one.
Everything was great when I went into test drive a xA or a Yaris Hatchback (they never had any and didn't get any, really wanted the xA anyway). They were really professional during the test drive and everything was good.

I went in on a monday morning before work to trade in my car and use it as a down payment on a 2006 Flint Mica Manual xA. Everything is going really well, and they even gave me a free rental car for the 1 - 2 days it would take for my xA (with iPod attachment) to arrive.

Tuesday morning they tell me the truck will be in 'any moment now' and I can come in to pick it up before 9pm. The truck didn't show up. Tuesday night they tell me the transport truck didn't make it in and it'll be there Wednesday morning for me to pickup. I phone them mid-day wednesday and the truck is still on the way and it will definitely be in there for me to pickup that night. That night the same story, it didn't come in, but we guarantee it will be there first thing tomorrow morning.

Now it has been 2 days and I am driving around in the rental car they are paying for. I have no issues with this other than the fact that I paid for the xA and was promised it in 1 - 2 days. If they could not get it in 2 days then they should've said it will be here Friday and I wouldn't have even spoken to them until Friday. Say 1 - 2 days and I'm going to want a status update every day.

Mid Thursday afternoon I'm out to lunch and I decided to phone to find out the latest, and then the truth comes out.
"Your car was sold to someone else. It's okay though, this happens all the time. We're finding you a new car now and I promise it will be here tonight."
Well that's just lovely. I don't care if it happens all the time, I want my car in the time period you promised. You've been telling me it is on a truck this whole time, but actually you've all been running around trying to find a car for me since my one is probably being driven by someone else right now.

That night I drove down to the dealership and my car was waiting for me, all's well right? Wrong!
"We have 1 problem. This car doesn't have the iPod attachment. We have it on order, it will be here next week and we'll install it for you."
That's just marvellous. The 1 thing I really wanted.
"but it has floor mats that we are throwing in for free"
Actually I paid for floor mats. I didn't choose them, they were on the car you found me. So no, you're not throwing in floor mats for free. Let me just sign the papers, take my car, and you phone me when the iPod attachment arrives.

I think the iPod attachment arrived about 3 or 4 weeks later.

My story isn't all that horrible. Oooh, I got my car a day later than they promised, big deal. But it's the service that ruined it for me. All the empty promises and guarantees that they made left me with a really bitter taste in my mouth. Hell the owner guy promised to 'make everything worth my while.' Never heard anything about that after he hung up the phone with me.

Don't get me wrong, Clearwater Scion, did a good job, at the end of the day they did get me the car I wanted and I love it, and I got a really good deal on the financing, etc, but they need to work on their customer service.
