Default TRD SPARKS SCREWED ME OVER! Must Read!

ok let me start by saying i purchased a supercharger from trd sparks a month ago and experienced the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! First off, Ken is the worst person to do business with. So here's the story.

I ordered my supercharger and had a independent shop put it on. When the shop was putting it on, the oil feed line (which is a brass fitting) was pre-installed and taped into the supercharger assembly by the factory, but came stripped straight from the manufacturer which was the reason why the oil feed line would not thread into it. I get a call from my shop telling me this, so I call trd sparks and tell them what happened. Ken told me that it was the shops fault and they broke it. The shop and I both told him many times that this piece was already built into the supercharger but he continued to tell us how he was right and we were wrong. So finally Ken orders the new part as long as I ship mine back which was no problem. When the part came in that Ken ordered it was the wrong part. I continued to call everyday considering they were giving me the run around to check up since my car has already been sitting in the shop for 3 weeks. Ken then told me I was being too aggressive and to chill out. I don't know about you but you don't say that to somebody especially after they just paid $2000 for a supercharger that came with a broken part.

I contacted the President Rick Sparks and told him everything, he said I will call you back in a minute and of course no call. I called again and no call back. I called corporate on these guys and told them how they were treating me and that helped but still no help. Finally Ken got the right part but refused to ship it overnight because the $50 dollar replacement part was "making them already go broke" according to Ken. So finally after a month with no car, my car was finished and is running great now. But if I were you I would never buy from this dealership since they wanna put the blame on the consumer instead of themselves. They all think they know what they are talking about, but countless times they were wrong. A couple of days later Ken contacted my shop to say the part was on the way and accused me of taking the package apart and breaking a brass oil feed piece! Thats crazy! I didn't even open the box but Toyota and TRD Sparks is never at fault. So guys be forewarned with handling with Trd Sparks and especially Ken.

Interesting...first time I recall hearing anyone having an issue with TRD Sparks, I've only seen positive comments prior to this.

SuperchargedtC7 : Your not the only one, My friend and I both had problems with them, Sucks that you paid that amount of money for a broken part. I seems that if you don't have the part installed by the stealership then you FAIL at life.

nothing but trdspark nut huggers in here. lol

Hope all is well.

don't you think the toyota techs should know how to plug a ecm into the module and know how to reflash it without looking at the instructions? i mean these guys are supposedly trained to work on our cars but they don't even know how to do something that simple? come on now

That's why you need to call different dealerships. Some dealerships have experience putting parts like that on and some don't. I've heard of numerous people having to call several dealerships till they found one that had even done the SC install before.

If that particular dealer isn't familiar with the install of course they're going to have to reference something. Even if they WERE confident about installing it I would never blame someone for double/triple checking there work just to be completely 100% sure of what they are doing.

Oh and TRDsparks ftw! Ordered my intake, suspension, door sills, sport pedals from them in the past and have never had problems. I also have a OEM lip spoiler template on the way for my next new toy

One of my buddies is a mechanic for a Toyota dealership. do you realize just how many different types of cars they have to be Knowledgeable about? around 40-50. so if they need to look at a manual from time to time, SO WHAT!!!!!!

Lol even if it's plugging in a TRD MAP, that's almost like saying a professional tuner doesn't need to look at his laptop to tune correctly

i bought my TRD springs and sway bar from sparks and i recieved them without a problem.

seeing as the s/c has so many parts, the odds of something going wrong or a problem coming up are greater.

you'll hear a lot of positive feedback about sparks from members on these boards, but then again the majority of us are buying intakes and other small ticket items compared to your s/c.

Hold on. I don't know anything about the supercharger reflash but I do know when it comes to reflash you need to follow instructions 100%. Just because ecu's are similar doesn't mean the way to flash them will be. The could be one minor difference in the ecu and it can change the way its flashed.

If the flash module plugs in to the OBDII port then yes the mechanics should know how to do this however if the module plugs into the ecu direct then no. Not all mechanic will ever need to or has removed ecus and opened the cover to the computer (once again I don't know the supercharger setup at all so if its just OBDII port then yes they should know, if its opening the case to the ecu then no).
