Default UNREAL DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE!!

On July 1st i went into my dealership to look into purchasing a tC... (which ive wanted to do for half a year but i was gathering as much info and money as i could) they only had one on the lot which couldnt be sold because it was the demo car (silver with fogs and pedestal spoiler). so i put 500 down for a deposit on either a BSP or FM tC(saleman didnt even know what Flint Mica was!) he said because it was a manual transmission it would take 3 to 4 weeks. he contacted my father and said my car was in so we went down today (Aug 3) to pick it up and work out a deal. he took me outside to show me the car....... IT WAS SILVER, WITH FOG LIGHTS AND A PEDESTAL SPOILER AND A 2005 the exact same car that he had tried to sell me a month ago. i said to him haha where the hell is my car this is a 2005 and the same car as last time, and he said that he didnt realize i had ordered an 06, so i showed him my deposit receipt with is handwriting that said 2006. and he said it didnt matter and that this car was the same as a 2006... i started getting very angry and had to explain the new features on the 06... and he responded with "ok so its not the same as an 05 but its your car." So my father and i talked to the sales manager and he had to appologize for the salesman, but he still had no imformation as to where my car is. and claimed he would call me with the whereabouts tomorrow. meanwhile my 93 plymouth acclaim is on its last legs. i came home empty handed and furious.

Be glad that you didn't give in and you WILL get the exact tC that you want ;). I did, and it was worth it. Don't give in, too many people give in and get stuck with something they don't 100% love.

Oh there was no way in hell i was going to let this guy win. He miss took me for a complete idiot, and ended up embarrassing himself. It was very enjoyable to watch his fellow employees watch as i had to tell him the new features on the 06 hahaha!

And you wonder why most car dealers have a bad reputation?? Any dealers reading this post should turn this dealer in as these are the types hurting the business.

Go to a different dealer and be sure to zap this dealer
in the dealer review section.

Your situation makes me totally nuts. I hate to offend any dealers here, but my 12 year old can sell a car better than any dealer I have been to. And in the case of Scions, probably knows more and can learn more about the car than any dealer.

To All The Dealers Out There

What is so hard about knowing your products? Gee, there are only 3 models of Scions. Have you seen the training materials prepared for sales people? Why is it a car salesperson doesn't know as much as the buyer? Gee they have all day to learn between customers. Weekdays are not that busy. Leads me to the time when after buying a new car the dealer put their sticker on the trunk. I immediately asked them to remove it. I asked them what they did to earn free advertising? I also told them it could stay if they paid me $10 per day to advertise their dealership on my car. I though it was a bargain. He was not amused. I'm a PITA about this. I also almost refused to accept the car if there was any trace of glue left.

I would call the dealership and get an appointment with the owner. Get your money back, preferably with interest. Takes names and give them hell. Follow that up with a call to Scion headquaters and let them know how bad this dealership treats their customers. Additionally contact the Better Business Bureau.

Incompetent salesman. Maybe you could wring some accessories from them after this fiasco.

wow that is some crappy service. What dealership was it? My experience was much better than that. I would get my deposit back and go try a different one.

The buyer should always be the one in control. Most dealers will do just about anything to sell a car. They even actually listen to the customer once in a while.

If your car is on it's last leg, ask for a loaner while you wait for your car! The dealer I bought from did just that without even a deposit. Because he mis-represented the car when it came in, I purchased from a different dealer.

Yeah, I've found that most "Scion" salesmen at the dealership don't know a thing about the cars. I knew this was going to be the problem if Toyota didn't open up separate dealerships for Scion.

The salesguys at my dealership were nice to work with, but they didn't know ____ about the cars when i came down to it. I came in a few weeks after buying mine to get the oilchange, and shoot the sh*t with them in the showroom while i was waiting, there was no shooting of any sh*t, cause they didn't know sh*t.

Default bad scion dealers?????

I hate what I am reading. As a scion rep. for a store in Oregon it is very frustrating for me to hear this. Scion takes great pride in product knowledge amoung their salesmen, and customer service and satisfaction is what scion is all about.

I know for a fact that my Scion sales team is top notch. There are, from time to time, problems with getting specific cars, especially this time of year. There aren't a huge number of 2006's out there yet, and all Scions are on a limited production. Its not like a Corolla, where there are 150,000 identical cars. That is half of the joy of owning a scion, knowing that everyone and their brother isn't going to driving one. So, be patient. Believe me, they want to sell you the car as bad as you want to buy it.

There is no excuse for lack of knowledge, and for mis-representation. Scion is ment to be a straight forward and hassle free experience....... If your experience is anything but, Scion headquarters needs to be contacted. Good luck with getting your car, and if takes to long. Come on over to Salem Oregon, we will treat you right. And tell ya more about the car than you want to know. Good Luck
