Did you try the diy for polishing the valve cover ? I did 0000 steel wool and a meguires polishing ball thing, the red one at places like pep boys with the Polishing compound and it came out great. I think the main thing is using a Polishing compound.

for polishing i use the mothers mag and alu polishing and the red power ball

this would be really cool for my xB2.. without the detail work though. just the Scikotics letters.

 

here's the one I have now.. I got he raw finish, I polished it myself, started with 1000 grit WET , then went to 1500 WET and finally 2000 Wet (SAND LIGHTLY WITH THE 2000)
then I used Mother's Mag and aluminum wheel polish with a mother's powerball mini. this picture does not do it justice. it's SHINY!!!!!!

 

I tried making some scikotics covers but there where to many little details to cut out with the router. I can how ever make the letters in vinyl on a Solid Polished cover.

 

won't the cover get to hot for vinyl?

Nope, if it got hot enough to melt the vinyl the coil packs and a wires would be fried.

 

yeah if stickers can last on brake calipers then they should be no prob anywhere in the engine bay except maybe exhaust parts.
