Default Debadge / Emblem Removal

CREDITS: This article was written by a dedicated Scion Life member. Please let out pmpnxb know if this article was helpful to you!

DISCLAIMER: Scionlife.com does not take any responsibility in what you do to your car. This FAQ could be filled with incorrect information. You could be voiding your warranty if not installed by a certified mechanic or dealership. It is quite possible that you can totally mess up your car by using this as a guide to install anything. This can result in serious bodily injury, death, dismemberment, sexually transmitted diseases and so forth to you and anybody else in case of an accident resulting from failure to take safety precautions and/or following the instructions in this write-up.

Getting Ready:

Here's something to do when your bored, and broke. Take the emblems off the back of your box, and tell people its the new mercedes G-class. (grin) You can do this in about 15-30min.
-- pmpnxb

Tools Needed:
Heat gun / hair dryer
Flathead screwdriver / prying device
Microsheer cloths so you dont scratch your box!
Wax of your choice

Optional:
New emblem to make people think its something its not!

Instructions:

1) Take your heat source of choice and heat up the outside of the xB logo..

2) Take your screwdriver / prying source, and wrap it in the microsheer cloth so you dont damage your paint.

3) Make sure your emblem is nice and hot, and push the screwdriver with the cloth covering it between the emblem and the paint.

4) Gently pry the first part of the xB off, they are just double sided taped on, so it doesn't take much effort as long as its hot. After you get the first side up, the little "x" should come off with almost no effort.

5) Heat the "Scion" emblem up just like you did the xB.

6) Using the same prying method, with your screwdriver pry the emblem off the paint. (Don't worry there are no holes behiend the emblems)

7) Now the emblem will leave some gunk left behiend.. if there is any adhesive left on the paint, you can use a Liquid tar/adhesive remover (SAFE FOR PAINT!!!) to get the adhesive off.

Take your wax of choice and buff the areas where the emblems used to be (I use a nice carnuba wax on my blue onyx pearl, it brings dark colors out beautifully.) Let the wax dry.

9) Remove your wax and now your emblem-less!!

10) Now you can relocate your still sticky emblems wherever you may want them, I put my xB on the dash in front of the steeringwheel.

11) If you have a new emblem (Lexus, mercedes, ferarri, whatever) You can put where your scion emblem used to be, and get asked all the time what kind of car it is. Hope I helped!

Default emblem removal option #2

 Another way to remove emblems is to take fishing line and slowly slide in a saw-like motion behind the emblems until they lift up. Then you would use the adhesive remover and wax as normal. I did this on my yellow EVO 8...

I used waxed Dental floss/tape. Make sure when heating the emblems that you move the heat gun around so you don't heat the area unevenly.

Although this isn't the tC thread... i just removed my tC emblem with much ease. It was pretty simple. I took the short cut of leaving my car sit in the hot sun for awhile. Then I just had to take on end and slowly peel the emblem off. The whole emblem came off in about a minute. Then i took some bug and tar and removed the excess double sided tape...that was it.

although it's a bad angle...here's a pic of the result.

hot sun worked for me,be very careful with heat gun as you may bubble your paint, with tha sun you will most likely leave some glue and tape, just take thumb and roll it off then wax and enjoy, looks much better.

And another thing is the scion emblem in the back has double-sided tape also, but it's engraved to the trunk.. is it advisable to remove it or not? thanks, guys. :D

Anyone know if the rear "Scion" emblem on the tC uses double-sided adhesive or is screwed in like the front emblem?

Thanks hotbox05. In removing it I found there are two little posts on the back on the emblem with corresponding holes in the insert, as well as a rectangular indent right under the center of the emblem.

No so pretty looking. Need to find something to fill in the holes.

Thanks for the step-by-step on emblem removal...went smoothly...

...regarding the front emblem on the xB...I know its just supposed to 'snap' off, but when I pull on it a little bit it seems the the entire grill is going to come off with it. Is there any particular way its supposed to snap off? specific places to pull from?

What is the best way to remove the front emblem on the xB? I don't want to pull the whole grill off the car.

Pop the hood and look at it from the back, IIRC, it has some tabs you squeeze and it will release.

Thanks for the help guys, but the emblems I ordered were fake ones so I have to send them back to the vendor. Now I have to order real ones. Who was it on this forum that was selling the real ones? Thanks in advance for the help everybody.

I ordered from Scionsport on Ebay. He is a really nice guy though and is giving me a full refund because the product was not what I wanted. So I'm not in any way talking bad about the vendor. He just didn't have what I was looking for. It's partly my fault. I should've known I couldn't get the front and rear badges for $27.
