3rd spark plug is shot

3rd spark plug is shot
So my boyfriend recently changed my spark plugs and noticed that only the 3rd one was beat up a little and the seal on it wasn't so great. I guess I'm just wondering what would've caused this and if it was just regular wear and tear.
