Heya everybody. Just wanted to swing in and say hello to everyone and introduce myself. The name is Brent, and as of this past week I went from driving an old POS 1994 Ford Ranger to the proud owner of an excellent condition 2012 Scion xD in silver with a manual transmission. I have no idea how I was able to get such a good deal on this car, but I basically paid the NADA black book price for this vehicle and it was purchased through a new/used Ford dealership of all places!

The entire process was smooth as butter, and when I sat down to do the deal I told the gentleman that I know what the black book retail value of the car was, that it had some minor issues that needs to be fixed (such as the power mirror switch which I bought for $13 on eBay) and then put my offer on the table and instead of accepting my number actually said "how about I just give it to you at the NADA value" and my jaw just about hit the floor. He went on to say that even though he knew the car was in excellent condition that they hadn't gone over everything with a fine-tooth comb like my mechanic did checking the vehicle out, and basically said that after the "costs" I would have to pay to get the small things fixed that it would end up costing me right at what I offered. For a Ford dealership, those guys are some of the nicest salespeople that I've ever worked with and even as I was walking out the door the lady who signed all of the documents for me asked if my address could accept UPS packages. I said sure and then asked why, and she told me that they were sending me a huge box of cookies as a thank you for doing business with them. I would NEVER receive that kind of service buying from a private party and I'm extremely blessed to be the owner of this new baby.

It's going to be a fun ride to have around from now on, and I do plan on doing just a little bit of work on it here soon. Right now it still has 0W20 synthetic oil inside of it right now and my mechanic recommended that I switch over to 5W30 and just put some Castrol GTX in it but it's running so well that I'm kind of afraid to switch the oil viscosity like that without any problems going on. 0W20 is pretty hard to come by and I've never seen any regular oil like that so I'll probably be using synthetic for the time being and just change the oil out just for the sake of longevity. The power mirror switch will be easy to swap out as well.

I don't have any questions about the xD though since this isn't the right subforum to ask them, but I did want to swing by and introduce myself and hope that my stay here will be long and fulfilling. I've wanted a Scion ever since Toyota first announced the brand, and after all of these years I finally have one that I absolutely love and could not be happier! I'll be seeing you guys around and will participate as much as I can and hopefully be a valuable asset to the community. Cheers!
