Default Is $105 bucks worth the 7,500 Sched. Maintenance?look inside

A recent review of our records indicates that your 2005 Toyota Vehicle is due for a 7,500 mile scheduled maintenance on June 28, 2005.

At 7,500 miles we recommend the following:
Add fuel conditioner
Add oil conditioner
Add washer solvent

Change oil and filter
Check & top all fluids under hood
Clean and adjust rear brakes

Lubricate all locks and hinges
Rotate tires and set pressure

Additional Services Included: Check parking brake
Check tire wear
Inspect air filter

Inspect drive belts
Inspect front brakes
Inspect lights

Inspect wipers and washers

Even though i'd be like 1,000 miles early for oil change.

**UPDPATE** ok i spoke to someone from service. I can deduct teh oil change amount and it'd be $85 bucks for the rest of the stuff or i can do the whole thing for $105 and my next Oil change would be free anyway. So either which way i guess my real quesiton is , Is $85 bucks good for everything else on that list minus oil change.???

I wouldn't pay for it. I'd get the free oil change/filter and maybe pay them extra to rotate the tires. That's it.

I could see paying them $100+ bucks for all that if the car had 20k or 30k miles, but not this early.

guess what boys and girls, if its anything like my old car, if you dont do the service, they sock it to you later on! at least thats how it could happen. with my galant, they advertised FREE OIL CHANGES FOR LIIIIIIFFFFEEEEE!!!!!(if you do the routinely scheduled maintenance at $400.00 a pop.) they didnt tell me those were the conditions to gettin the oil change and i believe they(mitsubishi) also hinted, if not outright told me, i may have voided my warranty. point is, be careful- if they dont demand it the insinuation may still be there regardless of phrasing. other than that, i get along with my dealer.

Most of the things they listed are "inspect" items... The bulk of this list you can do yourself in just a couple minutes. Of course, if you spot anything wrong in your inspection, you should get it taken care of, but the actual inspecting is pretty easy and probably not worth $100...

yeah i 2nd that.. the rest of that is a waste.. just get your oil changed and tires rotated..

i wouldn't add the fuel conditioner or the oil treatment.. i usually try to stay away from dealerships that add stuff like that.. I don't have anything against a fuel system cleaner like BG's 44K (dump into an empty tank and fill up) I would actually recommend it. but at like 15,000 miles instead.. but some dealers use stuff they can just make a profit on and aren't that good..

I will usually find a dealer who doesn't add all that extra stuff just to make a profit.. i almost want to ask you to find another dealer..

Just go by what the manual says. That's all that has to be performed to keep it in warranty. I only let the dealer do what the service manual says (the one that you get with the car). They also do a 27-point inspection free with any service, so I let them do that each time as well.

Your vehicle has rear disk brakes-you don't have to adjust them, also don't do the conditioners-total profit for dealership-no benefit for your car!!

at 5k/10k miles, don't do anything but tire rotation and oil change.
since we get 3 oil changes free from scion, all you pay is about $20 for tire rotation.
DO NOT fall for any 10/19/25 point inspections for $50/$70/$90, complete waste.

Some dealers might try to rip you off and will not just do oil change and tire rotation for $20. Call around. Every dealer has their own pricing, even though they might only be 5 min drive away. That's what happens here.

There are 3 toyota service centers within 5min drive from my work place. When my 5k was due, I called all of them. One said $150-$30oil change=$120, other said $70. The last one, "oh, drive a tC? very nice! yeah bring it in, free oil change from scion and $20 for tire rotation. That's all you need for now!"

If you live in norcal(650), contact Ray at City Toyota.

Yea, obviously don't pay for an inspection. I would think most dealers would give this free with any service job, mine does and I didn't even buy the car from them. They don't sell Scion's, they are just my local Toyota dealership.

At 7,500 miles we recommend the following:

Add fuel conditioner Bogus
Add oil conditioner Bogus
Add washer solvent Wiper Fluid? Come On!

Change oil and filter Stick to Schedualed

Check & top all fluids under hood You can't do this?
Clean and adjust rear brakes No adjustment needed/Clean?

Lubricate all locks and hinges You can't do this?

Rotate tires and set pressure If you can't do this, Sure Have them

Additional Services Included:

Check parking brake You can do yourself
Check tire wear You can do yourself
Inspect air filter You can do yourself

Inspect drive belts You can do yourself
Inspect front brakes You can do yourself
Inspect lights You can do yourself
Inspect wipers and washers You can do yourself

Most of this stuff, you should be doing at regular gas fill ups.
This is just a big scary list to make you bring your car in like, Holy Crap, that's a lot
of stuff, I'm overwhelmed and should have a Professional do it!

yes you would need ur rear brakes adjusted. My ebrake has over the past 20k stretched itself out a bit and they can adjust it so that its back to stock so that u dont have to practically pull the brake all the way up for it to engauge enough for ur car not to roll down a hill(for 5spd cars) Everything else u can do unless its not ur thing then pay them to do it. Ill be bringing mine in for the oil change and prolly the brakes as well as noisy roof and glove box asap.
