Default 1st Scheduled Maintence.....

I am now approaching 6 months on my tC and have barely 2500 miles on the car, but I know I need to take it in for the 5K mile service checkup.

Now is the first one free? I have no clue where my service booklet is, so I was just pondering this.

Yes it may be a worthless thread, but any help is appreciated.

Scion gives you the first 3 oil changes for free, I get them for life at my dealer.

I took my Scion Xa in for its first scheduled - 5000K - service and despite the free oil change the bill was about $100. Does anyone know what they do for this extra $100? Also, is there any reason I shouldn't go elsewhere - to somewhere other than a Toyota dealer - for services because I've not yet found a Toyota dealer in the SF bay Area that I'd like to business with?

I was told Toyota offers a service for 5K to look at the spark plugs and etc but they wanted 60 dollars.

I for one am not going to take it just because my car has 2500 miles on it and I think the inspection is a joke. I'm just going by my maintence book.
