Default ACK! the front of my xB looks like it was in a rally!

I have so many chips in the paint on the "lip" and bumper!
It's only six months old and looks like its been on the road for 10 years. Is our paint crappy on our cars or is it that it's too low/too flat?
What can be done to prevent it, I don't want to have to get it painted every six months!

Get it retouched or repainted and then get the starshield armor for the front end of your car.

It's the thin but very durable clear film by 3M that they put on cars to protect from rock chips and kamikaze insects. It's said to be able to take a rock at 60mph without a ding to the paint.

Nevermind... Found a whole bunch'o'info. And actually I found a place relatively near me that, according to them, the most expensive kit is $350. Hmmm...definitely something else to invest in.

Very true.....but I found this. I think I'll try these guys.

We have two (2) kits available for your vehicle.

The first is a three (3) piece Bumper kit for $171.95. The second is a
five (5) piece Hood kit, which includes the mirrors, for $110.95.
Shipping is $6.50.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Sincerely,

J. Michael Thienel

so very true and it isn't too noticeable and not as ugly as having a front bra either.

Either that or give it a good wash and and over wax the sh!@t out of youyr bumper and then pray that it fends of rocks and suicidal insects.

I'm assuming that the 5 piece is hood, front edge of each fender, and the 2 mirrors. So all the pieces would add up to less material then the "bumper kit"

ive always thought about getting those kits, and this is my first new car. its black, and the paint isnt the best ive ever seen, so i might just get it. ive seen them in person a few times, and you can barely tell. the only thing you can see is a small line where the film ends, and only if youre really staring at the car.

just a word of warning .... they stop dings but you still have a messed up paint job after time .... dirt will get under the edges that won't come off the paint and will scrach the heck out of the paint where the dirt rubs .... as well as affecting how the paint ages .... so in the end it will still look like crap .... when the paint colors become more popular there will be chip sticks which cost about $5 and will be virtually undetectable

just my 2 cents

Thanks,
JoeSpeed
