Aftermarket parts and voiding warranties?
Thinking about installing aftermarket fog lights and was wondering how that would affect my warranty. Speaking of which, for those of you with "non-genuine" Scion parts but still take your car to the dealer to they ever raise an issue with them? And what about Genuine parts not installed by a Toyota/Scion tech? Just wondering cause I haven't seen this stuff laid out anywhere.
shouldn't void anything. I was told that if you do something like modify the engine, and that mod for some reason destroys your engine, then it will void your warranty. so if the fogs you install blow out all your fuses, blow the head lights and tail lights off, turn 2nd gear into reverse, make your wheels fall off........whatever..... it won't be covered by the warranty
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) .
