Default BIRD POOP

Freaking Birds!! I took my tC to the beach yesterday. It was parked by a restraunt then I came out to find crap ALL over my car. That was sunday. Then today, monday, about 5pm, I washed it and thought i got it all off. There however is this one spot on the driverside fender next to the light where it will NOT come off. I rubbed real hard, with different things. Nothing. My dad suggested waxing it out, and still nothing. It seems like the crap oxidized my paint. I didnt think that was possible in one day. I dunno. I can try to take a picture, but I dont think you will be able to see it that well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get rid of it??

unfortunately bird crap is highly acidic and etches itself into your paint almost immediately. You might try the Meguiar's ScratchX that was mentioned above, but sadly you might be stuck with it without some professional assistance.

3M perfect-it III ......Works great, I had the same problem on my fathers bright yellow vette. He tried everything, then I went to his hood with the 3M polish- It worked great!

Same here...i have a ghost outline of bird poop on my tC on the trunk, i think if you clay bar your car those will come off. Meguairs scratchX did nothing.

WAX DOES NOT REMOVE DAMAGE TO PAINT!!!!!!

Tell your dad that, but maybe don't yell it like I did.

Wax is a protectant that if you had on your paint, you might
not have had to deal with the etching from the bird shyte.

Any good polish should be able to handle it assuming it wasn't
burnt in too long. 24 hours after the dropping shouldn't be
too bad.

Scratch X, 3M, are both good suggestions, just READ and
FOLLOW the directions!

Something similar happened to me. I used 3M Rubbing Compound and it came right off.

You might also want to try 3M finish restorer. I bought mine at Walmart, and so far it has taken care of any blemishes, and small scratches that I have found on my cars. Good Luck!

Same thing happened to me like 2 days after i got my tc. I rubbed it with everything and it wouldn't come off. The next day it was really sunny and when i got out of work it was gone.

Not to get into the science of it too much, but different birds have different diets, etc...

I had the exact same thing happen to me (same spot and everything). My car is waxed. In fact, it had been thoroughly waxed 5 days before the bird crapped on my car. I'm quite fanatic about the care of the paint on my car. I washed it the next morning when I saw the bird poop on my car, and its not that the bird crap doesn't come off, it's more like the crap etched into the paint surface. I clay barred it. No use. I used Scratch X. (several times, following instructions.. stuff really is great btw) Still there.

So.. I will now try the 3M stuff you guys recommend. But it makes me sad that even though I take care of my car, one little birdie ruined my paint. :-/

This won't help some of you guys out now, but bird poo is precisely the reason I keep a bottle of Meguiars QuikDetailer and a microfiber towel in the hatch. Not a bad idea for those who can't usually wash immediataly.

Yeah I had one of those days in Monterey. Took a whole bottle of water and a towel. My wife laughed for an hour, at least...
