Does it make a squeek sound? DOes it happen every time you stop or when your car has been sitting in the "cold" for a while?

If it only happens when the car has been sitting in the "cold" for awhile, it's the Toyota pads. Perfectly nothing wrong if the squeek, squeel noise. The Toyota Pads were designed for maximum braking force and better wear. Also to remove the use of asbestos from the pads.

But if the squeek happens every time you brake, that's an issue. Check your brake-fluid too. It shouldn't really have gone down that much though.

ive had a similar problem. when i was braking about 2 weeks ago i hit one of those sewer cover thingys and the brake petal started to rattle. the petal was pushing back and the car didnt want to stop. scary....since then nothing has happened. could it be because i have 18" rims?

When you drove over the smooth metal manhole cover with your brakes applied your tire locked up and your ABS caused the pedal to "push back" and vibrate as it activated. That's normal.... no traciton means no braking even with ABS.

Ya the ABS. hehe. But how about when the tires are not locked up. Sounds like a vehicle speed sensor to me. It might be a faulty vss where if too much heat is applied it could not read or might have too much clearance. Could not really tell ya. You have to describe the driving conditions a little better, how you drive, and where your driving when it happens. Hope to hear from you soon. GL
