A couple of days ago, I changed out my stock wheels and tires with different ones and while my dad and I were changing the front driver side wheel, we noticed a bunch of grease in the tire. We checked the boot and it didn't seem broken but we're thinking there may be a leak or something going on there. So I called my dealership to make a service appointment for tomorrow afternoon. He said if the boot is leaking, it'll be covered by the warranty but if it isn't, they'll charge $40 to have just checked it. What's this nonsense about charging me $40 to check for warranty work? Did anyone else have to pay a "fee" or set amount of money for a false alarm on warranty work?

 

yeah, it is called a diagnostic fee. if you think there is something wrong with your car and there isn't anything wrong with it, the just spend their time and labor checking for nothing.

hey, how do you like this story. my 1995 ford explorer has a terrible creaking noise coming from the front passenger side wheel area. i took it to a dealership, watched them basically jump up and down on that corner of the truck pushing it up and down and listening to the squeak it made. told me it was a bad ball joint and that would be $20 bucks for the diagnosis.
