Default CD ERROR 4

I've read that some of you got manuals for your Scion CD players; I didn't receive one with my purchase (I'll have to get one from the dealership).

Anyways, whenever my SCION / Pioneer 6disc changer tries to switch CD's, it gets stuck and says ERROR 4. You can't even eject/load/do anything. The only way to get around it is to turn off the car/power completely and restart it (and even that doesn't work 100% of the time.

Can somebody with the manual please tell me if it gives a description for:

CD ERROR 4
CD ERROR 3 (got this one time; also curious to know what this means).

Thanks once again guys!

Have you checked to make sure all the discs are facing the right direction in the cassette?

You might be able to download a manual from Pioneer's website at http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...6_4277,00.html

Let us know how it works out for you; I'm considering the Scion and was thinking about upgrading to the 6-CD changer.

Thanks.

LOL Of course I've checked the discs. :D
I've tried all sorts of tests. Something is definitely wrong with the unit.

Did you rewind the CDs before you put them in? Maybe they're at the end and just won't play anymore.

Sorry, I got the single disc, but no manual either...

Are these burned CDs or pressed?

The problem occurs whether there are CD-R's or all original CD's.

if you read the manual, it says "error4- this appears when there is excess current flow, contact your scion dealer and get it repaired"

Sorry to resurrect this thread again,...however I am now the victim of a _____ of an 'Error 4'.....I've gotten it before and done the turn off the car for a while, then restart and eject the offending disk. It started with the disk not wanting to eject in the first place, and now none of the disks will eject and I getting stared at by the freaking Error 4 message. My dealer can't look at it until the 11th, which is WAAAAY to long to go without CD's. I'm at the point where I'm going to go shoot all the DJ's b/c they never play anything good! HELP! PLEASE! Or is the dealer the only solution? Would disconnecting the battery work?

Nothing....even before the Error 4 occured, it would eject every disk BUT disk 6, which is the one that was giving me trouble before. So now nothing will come out and the damned thing won't play. ____ing thing.

Sounds like that's one for the dealer...

Troubleshooting step #1: Replace with known good unit...
