I was reading a post about the first mod most people do since the cost is less then other mods. I have tinted my car and have the OBX Shift **** and Pedals. However I read of someone having their car clay'd and hand wax'd. Does Clay mean a compound job to the entire body of the car?

picks up tiny dirt particle off your car to give it that slick look and feel to the paint( of course wash the car first)

 

and yes.....clay is the shiznit!!!!!!.......after a few weeks of having a new car, wash it and then feel the paint with your hand.......if it doesn't feel like glass, you need clay!!!!!

I personally went with a Zymol kit that I put together myself. It's WAY expensive,
but Zymol is what's on most of the collector cars and concourse winners in the
world. So it's worth it to me.

 

Cool.....since I've got the box I've really been studying on what is best for my car. Something about it just makes you want to presenet it the best you can.

Do you know if clay bars will mess up real pinstriping?

 

Claying is literally like it sounds. You are literally messaging
clay over your paint and it sucks up the minute particulates
imbeded in your paint.

So if you were a bit rough, yeah, it could peel up the edges
of your pinstriping if they are vinyl, but paint pin-striping
should be fine if you are gentle.

 

I can attest that clay is AMAZING. A while ago I got a fine spray of read spraypaint all over the front end of my dad's X5...and I got it all off by lightly going over it with a clay bar. Amazing.

 

I'm definately going to try it out when I get off IR. I was jusr worried about my painted flames and such. I have some kinda white ____ all over my car that I can't get off.

 

2nd. I love the feel of zymbol. Find it at wal-mart... I likey zaino also that stuff is great!

 

Zymol at Walmart I don't think is really made by them.
That stuff at Walmart is probably just as much junk as all
the rest of the "common" wash and wax products you find there.

Four top things to stay away from if you are Detailing a car:

Silicone
Petroleum Based products
Ammonia
Formaldehyde.

All that stuff will train wreck your paint and plastics, but
it's the cheapest way to make products for cleaning/detailing
Guess what Armor All, Turtle Wax, Windex have in them?

What are you talking about? I have boughten zymbol from my audi dealership and at walmart. It is the same bottle. It's the samething.
