They say that you can get 3 uses out of the clay bar system. I usually get one, maybe 2 out of them. I only used the clay bar twice a year, so it does get pretty gummed up.

I've been using the clay bar for about 6 years. I love it! it takes some getting used to but the results are amazing. the clay will take off overspray. had it happen to my ranger and the clay took it off with a little work. I'm using the same bar for about a year now. I only clay the xB when there is some serious bug guts and tree stuff on it. I will do the whole vehicle every 2 months or so, or right before a show. well worth the time it takes.

you can use the clay bar until you think its dead
ive worked as a detailer
just keep mashing and folding the clay bar until you see a clean side.
if its not picking up dirt anymore its dead

for the glass you can use a razor blade and windex
wet the glass then slide the blade on a 15 degrees with no pressure

clay bars are usually only good about 1-2 uses depending on how dirty a car is. if there is a lot of contaminents on a car then using it more then once or twice can scratch the car

if you are leaving clay behind you are not doing it right...

you need to lubricate the surface of the vehicle so the clay can slide over it...
depending on the size bar...you should be able to get two full uses out of it...maybe three if you keep a clean car...

and as DJ_X says keep folding it in half to get a clean caly bar....

i agree. i worked as a detailer for years. just keep folding it. when there isn't a clean spot on there, get a new bar.

i have been using the same bar for about a year and a half, using it every 2-3 months on two cars.

Default The amazing clay bar!!!

I used a clay bar for the first time a few week ago. It is the most amazing improvement I have ever made to my babies paint. I have a new tC and thought the paint could be a little smoother on the passenger side door. I used he clay bar and it did so good I ended up doing the whole car :D It seems that keeping the area that you are working lubricated is most important. Cleaning it is just like the guys who detail said. Kneed it to a clean new surface. I will say you sould buy a good clay bar from a paint supply store (about $28.) Don't one of those cheap little clay bars from autozone etc..

1. spray lubricant onto area of car
2. rub clay bar over lubricated area
3. wipe down with clean cloth

Repeat

its pretty simple stuff really.....
