Default Dent removal

At not even 4,000 miles on the odometer I have joined the ranks of the initiated. While washing my Xb I noticed white paint on the driver's door. A careful examination resulted in my funding a small circular ding in the door. I'll spare everyone the rant on what I think of who did it.

Has anyone used any of the dent removal services? I'm talking about the guys that go to dealerships and use metal rods to remove small dings. Even though the dent is tiny I want it gone, if for no other reason than my sanity. Every time I open the door my blood boils. I guess when you wait 48 yrs. to buy your first new car, and really baby it, that'll happen.

I've seen some dent specialists in action and they do a great job. I can't say that for all of them, though. I haven't gotten the dent on my passenger door fixed yet, but I'll be getting it fixed soon. Check out Dent Wizard for a specialist near you. Expect to pay a minimum of $50.00 for the dent.

being more than a little familiar with the PDR (paintless dent removal) business - I can tell you, dents are going to be inevitable on a Scion, these cars are made from tin foil - when it comes to metal and paint - these things are cheap crap

but I digress - now that you have the dent, it can be fixed (assuming it's not to bad - but doesn't sound like it from your description).

There are two kinds of dent guys - hacks and non-hacks. A no skilled hack will punch a hole in your door jamb without even trying to see if there's a no damage entry method first. A dent guy that knows what the hell he is doing will do every single thing in his power to PUNCH NO ACCESS HOLES!

So ask (no, TELL) them to punch no holes and to go through the window track - also, they should also have a steel or plastic window protector slid into the window jamb to prevent damage to the glass (that glass isn't hard to break when you pry on the edge of it).

With your small dent, it would be better to leave the dent and live with it than being forced to punch a hole in the metal to get to it - that hole is A LOT worse than the stupid little dent it was created for. Plugging the new hole with a plastic body plug or silicone wont keep the hole from rusting. (SO, NO HOLES!)

Also, if you look for someone who's gonna fix it for $30 or some other cheap price - hack. A guy who's learned to do it right is going to be $50 and up for that one panel.

Default No cheap hacks or holes

This car is almost new and the dent is almost invisable. There will be no holes or cheap hacks. I'd gladly pay the $50.00 to regain my sanity and stop imagining what I'd like to do to the $@%& that put the dent there.

I checked into Dent Wizard. They have a location in a Ford dealer's body shop that is about one hour from me. If I drive three hours there is an actual Dent Wizard shop. I'd make the drive for a better job. Does anyone have an opinion, or is it really hit and miss on who actually does the work. I don't know anything at all about Dent Wizard.

by the sound of it - you've got an easy dent to fix. Shouldn't take naymore than a few minutes (I'm dead serious.... it'll only take about 2, 3 minutes)

an "almost invisible" dent can be fixed by most any dent guy - even the ones who've only been at it a few months.

sounds like your #1 condition is just that the PDR tech doesn't make any new holes in the car.

If there are any really local guys - they'll be listed in the yellow pages under AUTOMOBILE: REPAIR: DENT REMOVAL, PAINTLESS.

You may also call the Toyota dealer and ask the USED CAR MANAGER who does their PDR work (dealers are what PDR guys mostly focus on - not retail jobs). That wont garauntee a hack free tech - but it's a start - just lay down your "rules" ahead of time - you and car will be fine.

Default Dent Medic

My Web searching didn't bring up anything clear on Dent Medic locations, other than a US map with illegible dots on it. US industry is still a long way from understanding Internet consumers.

I did find a Ford dealer 50 miles from me that has Dent Wizard come by. I've made three phone calls, and have not yet spoken to anyone who can answer questions. Worst case scenario, I can drive three hours and go to the actual Dent Wizard shop.

Has anyone used the Dent Wizard shops in Raleigh, NC?

Default Help I have a dent

I noticed a dent around 4 or 5" wide circle on the back passenger side back rear panel above the tire and right under the top crease that runs along the top. I think someone either punched or kicked by car. How to get it fixed? I really dont want to try on my own to pull it back in place from the inside. Does anyone know of place in orange county, Calif. that can fix it ? I hope they can just push it back in place, I dont mind if it does not look perfect. There is no paint damage at all. I think my insurance has a 500 deductable. tHANKS

My Tc was 4 days old and with one trip to the far reaches of the local superstore I have a nasty crease dent in the rear wheel well lip. It creases the entire flat part and partly into the curved part. The dealer's shop said they will take a wack at it for $125 and if I don't like it they'll apply that money to the full repair and repaint ($670). So I hope they can do a descent job. He said he wants to access it through the side of the door frame.

:D the ding king is a (DIY) tool kit usually sold at walgreens, maybe checker/autozone, etc. Runs about $10-20. Works fairly well. Comes with a hot glue gun, some glue, dent removal tool, etc. Also check one of the "as seen on tv" stores in the mall.
There's another one called "pops a dent" same as ding king
I too have a door ding(thanks to the guy who parked next to me in Lake Havasu) and will probably take the inner door panel off to see if I can just push on it a little from the inside...otherwise Ding King it is

(update..if anyone cared :D ) I tried the "ding king" on my door, and after 3 attempts, it came out. Still have a little scratch/scuffing but touch up paint is on it's way. I guess that's better than paying someone $50-100.
