Detailing Clay OWNS. Props to TeamMightyMiniz
Followed TeamMightyMiniz's Detailing instructions
Did Everything but the polish before the wax and HOT DAMN. The detailing Clay is the Shiznit. Never used any before. I Was amazed out how much crap it lifted of the paint, and I only have 14,000 on my tC. Only draw back is you then get to see all the mini paint chips
. Definitely reccomend usin CLAY for anyone who hasn't before. Thanks again to the helpful peeps at Scionlife.com
I suggest you do a full detail first, dedicate an whole afternoon/evening to it.
Wash, clay bar, wash again... then polish. Use a good rubbing compound through Meguiar's or 3M. Polish that baby smooth.
Once you've finished polishing, wax it. I'd go for 3 layers of high gloss wax.

My feelings exactly. i used to be a detailer but it wasn't an item that I was aware of back then. I don't think it was used mainstream at least. It's actually very easy and the effect is astounding. I should probably do mine again soon.
I've found that Mother's is about the best... then 3M
And Thanks for the Praise, I don't deserve it in particular... but I will take it!
Woot Woot Clay Bars Rule.
Did you feel the grit?
I say, if you live in a city like LA , you should clay bar every 2 months or after every 6th wash if you wash often.
Outside LA push it to every 3 or 4 months.
Some will say once a year or twice a year. The fact is, there is soooo much grime in the LA air that it's always attacking your finish.
So a Good Claying and a heavy waxing should keep you safe.

A Clay Bar is best to remove oxidation, grit and grime that is built up on your paint's finish. Can help somewhat with water spots... but read further.
You can try it on a window, but why waste the time.
If you can find a good FOAMING window cleaner... try that.
Water spots can be removed with ordinary Distilled Vinegar... believe it or not.
A detail service will call it an "acid bath"... and charge an additional $50-$70
When using the Vinegar...first wash your car as you would normally, rinse, then use the distilled vinegar. Just wipe it on with a microfiber towel or sponge, and rub it in. Do one section at a time, about 2-4 ft sections, let it sit 30 to 60 seconds, then rinse. When you're done, wash the car again with shampoo and rinse. By the way, vinegar will remove your wax. So, be prepared to re-wax your car after the vinegar treatment. Also if you are going for that HIN show Shine, add this to your routine. Taking all the wax off should be done everynow and again anyhow.
So... I'll Start a new thread for all to post their ShowShine Pics.
Good Luck!

I used the clay bar all the smooth surfaces on my car, including windows. It works well in removing all surface contaminants normal cleaners leave behind. It also works well on hard water spots.
Your glass will be as smooth as the paint once it's been clayed. Just remember to use a bit more lubricant/detail spray in tinted windows like your sunroof.

here's a photo of what I use.

and a description :
Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving System
Created to lift the particulate debris and contaminants that washing can't, our exclusive Paint Saving System will remove embedded grains of metal, tree sap, airborne environmental deposits and paint overspray. Better yet, our clay bar isn't hazardous to your paint-it's just firm enough to pick up the bad stuff, without being too aggressive. Use Mothers Clay Bar to get rid of paint-fouling grime and pave the way for complete waxing.
Thanks for the tips! Since I'm not going to any shows this weekend, I'm going to dedicate it to really getting the car finished. All I've done since I've gotten the car was quick detailer spray and a towel...
I did pick up a foaming window cleaner and a microfiber towel. It didn't do much to remove the nasty water spots on my sideview mirrors... I'll try the vinegar trick.
Thanks again!
