OK----got my '06 xB in Oct. of '05 and now have 2400 miles on it (don't do alot of driving as you can see)----but I know the book states change oil every 5,000 miles, but was wondering for the first oil change----WHEN-----should I wait for 5,000 or do it now. Thanks for your opinion in advance.

 

I waited for 5000 for the first oil change, just to make sure things were good and broken in, I brought my own synthetic for the oil change and now it will be every 3000

 

I had mine done at about 3K miles. Maybe that's a throwback to olden days when there was more wear on an engine breakin, but it made me feel better and besides, it's FREE! I'm on a 5K-miles or 6 months interval now that the initial change was done . . . .

 

11,500 - 3 oil chages next one is at 13,500

 

I did my first oil change ~2600mi. Although they state 5000mi intervals, I wouldn't follow that guideline unless I was using synthetic.

 

Per my dealer, the first three oil changes are free, and should be done every 5K miles or every six months, whichever comes first.

Toyota approved oil is a synthetic blend, iirc, which is why the interval can be stretched to 5K miles.

 

did my 1st oil change at 600 miles

 

did my first after break in at 1000 miles.New filter and reg oil.Second at 3000 with full synthetic.Gas milage went up 3mpg.

 

Me --> 3k, 6k, 9k, 12k, 16k, 20k

Keeping it every four thousand now with Mobil1
