Not too hard. . . bondo, sanding, sanding, more sanding, painting (assuming you've got the right paint). Hopefully you have some good paint experience. . . if not, leave it to the pros

I didnt want to create a new thread, so I will ask here. What color matched the gunmetal of the tc rims, or what color did you use and did it match well.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Fixing Rim Damage And Hiding Bodies" ?

I, myself am a victim of stupidity and trying to park too close to a curb.

I am just curious if anyone has actually done this process of repairing their rims.

I have a RS 1.0 with the dark painted rims and am wondering how it looks.

When I called a local rim-fixer-upper, he said that doing a process like that won't fix it. When the rim gets warm (from normal driving,) it expands, then contracts as it cools down. This will cause the bondo to break off/fall out.

I am interested in hearing if this process actually works. It would save me a lot of money if it did.

I severely doubt that would be the case. If so, you wouldn't be able to use bondo on the hoods or fenders of cars, the engine bay would heat the bondo up there as well, and the same issue would occur.

Sounds to me like he was trying to get you to pay him to fix the rims using his process/price, not the cheaper solution.

I kind of wondered if he was just trying to get me to bring my rims to him to get them fixed instead of doing it myself.

Also, does anyone know of a good color match for the RS 1.0 tC rims?

lol i thought i was the only victim of rim rash.

first rim 1/2 an inch scratch cause idiot wouldnt move out of the way (pedestrian walking and didnt want to move)

second rim, big big big rim rash, about 1/4 of my rim. i got ____ed so i was driving like a wild animal. i made a sharp turn on a sharp corner and i hit the curb and i drifted a little . so for u wanna be drifters on the tC, all you gotta do is drive fast, make a sharp turn, make sure your rear rim hits the curb and you can drift.

Then you're lucky. Chrome can be buffed out by a good bodyshop.

I had curb rash repaired on 2 of my rims. I left it up to a mobile service in metro Detroit. The guy did an awesome job. He also said that bondo will eventually crack due to freezing and heat.

Anyone know the answer about the gunmetal color for RS1.0 rims? What paint is right? I have a small rash, I wouldn't fill it w/ bondo, but would like 'hide' it the scratches.

I am also curious about the color of the RS 1.0 rims. Anyone have a color code?
