So.. the on going debate...
Is there a company/gas station that has a "better" gas that will get you better mileage and such? Does anybody know any specifics about this? If so, please share

Unless it's a "name brand" station, most companies all get their gas from the same supplier. Out here in the Long Island area, Hess, a few other name brand stations and almost every indie gas station get their gas from a company named ITC. Other companies such as Mobile, Sunoco, and Exxon have their own carriers.
Name brand companies will usually put extra engine cleaners and other additives into their gas and carry higher grades.
Other than that, I think it's all pretty much the same crap.

Sheetz and other independents will generally buy from the bigger companies wholesale for whatever they can get cheapest.
One day they might be selling the same stuff that Sunoco sells, another day it might be the same stuff Citgo sells, another day it might be the same stuff Exxon sells. Whatever they can get cheapest and what they can get a higher return on at the pump is what they'll sell.
Some shady independent stations have been known to "water-down" their gas, making it an inferior product but getting more volume out of it. It is for this reason I always buy from the mainstream players.
What I'd like to know is whether or not I'm wasting money putting in 93 octane into my xA, or should just stick with 87 or 89.

My friend drives an S-10 and apparently his engine failed b/c he wasn't using top tier gasoline. In the California area, the only suppliers of top tier are Shell and 76

Either way, he was told Chevron should be fine, but it was not specifically listed on their top tier listing.
