Default Help!! Drove through spilled white paint

Driving down the road and the car in front of me didnt swerve. I saw a 5 gallon pail of paint partially crushed so I swerved and only caught the outside of the puddle. WHen I looked after stopping. I have paint all up in my wheel well, along the fender lip and along the side skirts and back bumper.

How can I safeyl remove the paint?

The paint was probably latex house paint and would wash off with water if you did it right away.

It's probably too late for that, though. Try scraping it off with your fingernail.

If this doesn't work consult a professional detailer before doing anything more drastic. You don't want to screw up your finish getting the unwanted paint off.

Goo Gone or Goof Off (they're the same thing). This happened to my dad's brand new Ford Escort (now my 12 year old Ford Escort) a few weeks after we got it. He just rubbed the paint that had splattered on our car (it was yellow, the car is green) off with that and then washed the car.

There's still a few spots here and there where he missed it, but the car's paint in that area has held up for twelve years...so, I'd say it worked out pretty well.

That sucks...

Best of luck with your car. At least it's only white and not some weird color...but that still stinks.

WD 40 is safe to use, I would use Goo Gone, over Goof off.

the best thing to be hosest (and safe for paint) is a clay bar. it cleans the paint (bugs tar etc.) that is the ONLY thing i would use. you can get a mothers clay bar at autozone

I worked at a detail shop for sometime. The best thing to use that seems to work great is Oven cleaner. Might sound wierd but it will not hurt your paint. Spray it on and let it sit for like 5 min and wipe it off. You should be cool then

NO! Goo Gone is an adhesive remover. Goof Off is a _much_ stronger paint solvent.

Goof Off took the paint right off of my hubcaps when I was trying to remove adhesive residue with it.

Like the label says, try it in an inconspicuous area before you try it where you can see the damage!

I drove past the area again. The whole intersection is now white. Looks evenly painted now lol.

I know your pain. My car got repainted by a can of orange construction spray paint that got cracked open in the road. I am still trying to get the orange off.

One week after I bought my box, I unknowingly drove through
a puddle of fresh spilled rubber cement. By the time I got home
it had mostly dried. WD-40 was about the only thing that would
loosen the slime. It still took about 2 1/2 hours to get it off the
right side of the car. It's was a good thing that I had waxed the car
the first day I owned it.
