Default Help, Girlie Girl needs guidance for 37K maintenance...

Hi,

i have a 2008 scion XD and I drive a-lot! Well I took it in for the 45K regular maintenance which is going to run me around $200 which I expected.

I also noticed the brakes were making a funny sound. So I left it at the dealer and they reported the following:

the front brake job coupon for $179.95
clean/adjust rear brakes $67.95
brake fluid flush $89.95
fuel injector flush $94
clean throttle body $133.06.

My mother says I should just do regular mainenance and the fuel injector and take it to a brake place for the brakes...I don't even know what the throttle body is but I know he says it is recommended but not priority yet.

What do you think I should do?

you just need to change oil and filter, rotate tires, and check brake pads. that is it. the rest of the services they suggest are unnecessary.

I would take it to an independent mechanic or Midas for free brake inspection. If your brake pads are down to the indicator, then replace them. Otherwise, it could just be cold weather make it squeal.

Brake fluid replacement should be done based more on time frame. (Unless you're constantly boiling b.f. from emergency stops)

just get Chevron fuel injector cleaner and run a tank of gas.

I agree with the guy above.. just do regular maintenance at the stealership.

45k isnt too much for a 08. she probably got it in mid 07. its been over a year and i got 13k on my 09. and i dont drive much.

ok im guessing its auto transmission. if anything you should get your auto transmission flushed. but thats just me. my dad has over 60k miles on factory fluids. only did oil changes. and thats it. it runs great still

brakes are pretty easy to do. must places charge over 100 for installing front pads...
im guessing u dont have a brother that likes to get his hands dirty?

just do your basical maintaince and your fine.
like air filter changes evey 10-15k miles. (depending on how dirty it is)
oil changes (shops does it for less then $30)
rotating tires.

btw if your brakes makes noise its probably going out soon.
