Default How can I remove wipe swirls on the windows?

After washing my car, I used Windex to clean the rear window. I can't seem to get the swirls out. You can't really see it, but from inside, you can see how I wiped the window. It also shows more when the window is fogged. How can I remove these swirl wipes? Windex said it was streak-free, but it's leaving streak marks.

don't use windex. it's crap.

use something good, like stoner's invisible glass

i use it with a short knap microfiber cloth, works wonders. some people also recommend vinegar and newspaper

i use alcohol and newspaper for any window stains that won't come off. just pour a little bit of the alcohol onto the newspaper and start wipin. alcohol's one of the best cleaner on its own, but what makes newspaper so great are the chemicals in the ink. they cut directly into anything on the window and take it off with ease. many detailers swear by this method. when it's done i always go back with a normal rag and another dose of alcohol and make sure all the stuff is off of there (the newspaper sometimes leaves ink on there). your windows will be squeaky-clean, you'll hear them.

Alcohol? I never knew that. What kind of alcohol are you guys talking about? Rubbing alcohol? Beer?

Gotta go find some old newspaper...

Trung, my AIM doesn't automatically start when I turn my comp on, so i would have to manually sign on, and most of the time I don't sign on.

If it's from the wiper he has wiper haze that would need to be polished out. This is why a wiper on a rear window is a big NO NO. Plus the rear wiper really doesn't do anything to help you see clearer while it's raining. Just scratches your window. LOL

my toyota dealer sells glass cleaner.. works the BEST.. i was amazed and how well it works.. might want to try that..

now they are streak marks, not the tinting "bubbles" that you can see at an angle outside the car?

there aren't any bubbles. you know when you wipe something and it leaves a streak of where you wiped it? It's like that. You don't see it if you look directly at it, but when the window is fogged, you can see it. I hope you guys are understanding what I am saying.

so you just need a good glass cleaner.. some toyota dealers carry the toyota branded glass cleaner.. good stuff.. ive been using that..

also there is stoner glass cleaner as well (autozone, pepboys etc)

looks like you need one of those cleaners.. because the stuff your using isnt getting the glass clean enough. leaving streaks..

A squeegee is all you ever need. I have had streak free windows since I bought the box new.

how does yours get fogged..mines fog only when...nvm haha i have the same problem except i can really see the left over wipes when the sun is shinning on it in the right angle..(usually when the sun is going down)

i use two microfiber towels, one semi wet to clean it alittle, and one dry to dry off the wet part so it doesnt leave any streaks
(have to rub the window really well), works for me, ill test out the newspaper thing some day

the fogging he is talking about can be coming from the "out-gassing" of the plastics.. its common in cars now because of the formulation of plastics..

either toyota branded glass cleaner or stoner would work fine to remove this.. also vinegar and water can do the same trick (just smells)..

You guys crack me up!

Just an FYI : it takes me just under 10 minutes to do all the windows INSIDE and OUT, and they are all streak free.

No, because most seem resigned to cleaning glass the hard way (spray and wipe combos).
Once you go with the squeegee, you never go back.

The hands down best clean I have ever got from any product was with, Windex and their Microfiber reusable towels. Windows looked as clean as the day I bought the car.
