Default How do I make my TC look new?

Hi! I just posted to ask if it's possible to make my navy blue 2007 TC look new again.

I bought my TC used, and it has quite a lot of blemishes here and there like; a lot of those circular scratches everywhere, rock chips on the hood, bumper, and side mirrors, a couple dings and door handle scratches on each side, lack of paint shine even though I wax it every 2 weeks using Meguiars Gold Class, and also the bad part, all of my nice 17 inch rims have a curb scrape/rash and all of them made my car look old and ugly.

How do I repair these problems? Thanks Ya'll!

well.. u can take it somewhere to get it polished...

i had some problem with the rear bumper.. just below the license tag that part wasnt shiny at all.. it was cloudy, faded..

so i bought some sand paper (1500) wet sanded it a lil bit... then applied /rubbed rubbing compound by hand then polishind compound w/ the polisher machine.. and it looks 10 times better.. when i did that lil part i felt i wanna do this with the whole car....

so get it polished..

Go and get a clay bar kit. I used on on my tC and people thought I had it repainted. It won't fix your rock chips (I wish it did though) but it will make a huge difference.

Need to take a whole day out to detail it!

Start with a GOOD wash and dry.

Then claybar it (makes the finish perfectly reflective removing any bonded contaminants)

Use a paint cleaner to remove bird etchings, any "baked on" surface defects.

Then polish it to add luster and depth.

Top with a good wax. Should be shinin'!

to make it look new again you need more than one day of detailing... I've had my tc for two years and am going to do a full detail and fix all the cracks, chips, etc. and I plan on it taking more than one day

Oh for my collection of rock chips I just went to the dealer and got a bottle of touch up paint, a fine tipped brush, and just carefully filled in the chips. I didn't plan to have them look "not there", but anything better then white primer showing with black paint... Up close you can see the chips, but they are MUCH more hidden. I hated seeing the white speckles everywhere.

would the claybar, polish, and wax still work if you car has been repainted? i've been hit several times and the body shop who repainted my car... it seems like they didn't do a good job. my car is black but the area they repainted seems kinda lighter than the actual black. but then again, my car is almost 3 years old, so i wasn't sure if the whole claybar, polish, and wax would bring it back to life.

No. A bad repaint needs a good repaint to fix.

If the problem is orange peel or scratching or something, wet sanding would work.

Circular scratches, if you mean swirls, need a polisher to correct. You can also use glazes and waxes to try and hide them. To hide them, look for 3M Imperial Hand Glaze or Danase Wet Glaze or Chemical Guys' EZ Creme or Chemical Guys' Wet Mirror Finish.

A good professional correction will cost over 100 bucks.

If you want to keep your car in tip top shape, get a machine polisher.

It sounds like your describing inaccurate colour matching on the paint shops behalf, something only a repaint and correct colour matching can fix.

good advice, i was also worried that my car was losing its shine and it felt like sandpaper, i dont know if it was the weather that made it like this, I was living in Washington and it got a little bit of snow there, and now its in california. I cant wait to use the clay kit, what kind of good was do you guys use on your cars?

yeah lol but we live in florida much easier to upkeep good paint when our cars dont see harsh winters usually a wash and a wax down here makes for a like new shine... up north its a little more work to keep it looking good for sure
