How many paintchips do you have?
Of all the cars I've ever owned I must say that Scion has by far the worst paintjob I've ever experienced. My 89 Mercury topaz had less paintchips after 12 years than my tC after 6 months...
Sound off:
Scion tC (Flint): 10,000 miles, 6 months ownership, 20 paintchips, 2 rust spots on the hood

IIP tC, 15k miles on it, four 650 mile road trips, 3 paint chips (from a gravel truck that lost a bunch of fairly large gravel, one of which peices took out a fog light
). I will say it is a little more delicat than some cars, but mine has held up as well as most of my previous newer model cars. Unfortunately, factory automotive paint sucks worse each year I think. I know the EPA regs have something to do with it as well as the "build as fast as we can" production these days.

So far, since January 2005, I have one paint chip in the lower two inches of the ground effects front plastic...that happened before I had the 3M paint protection applied by StonGard.
I jacked up my Rear Lip Spoiler on the automatic garage door
! Also, when I went to pick up my freshly hatched tC, it had a ding on the passenger front wheel well. When I went to visit my bro in L.A., a truck on the freeway kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield! I park far away from other cars so I don't get door dings. I know that "Soccer Mom" and her fat SUV/Mini Van and 4 kids don't care. I've seen a kid do it and the mother say, "That car shouldn't have parked that close to us." when little Billy just throws open the door and wasn't paying attention. Its called a "Compact" park for a reason people!
I JUST TOOK MY XA OUT OF IT'S 3 MONTH REST... AND I NOTICE THE HOOD HAS A SH*T LOAD OF NICKS IN IT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT GOT SPLATTERED WITH DIRT !
TO TOP IT OFF, ON BOTH FRONT DOORS, IT HAS FRECKLED RUST (NOT BAD, BUT STILL, ITS LIKE 6 MONTHS OLD!) WHAT IS UP WITH THIS! MY 16 YEAR OLD CAR LOOKS BETTER
SO, I PUT A COAT OF WAX ON IT AND, I'M GOING TO HOPE THAT IT DOESN'T GET WORSE.
My xB has nearly 30 paint chips and one gouge to the metal with a little dent on the passenger door from a pebble on the highway. A little touchup paint after I wash my car and you hardly notice them unless your withing inches. I guess thats one of the major perks of a white car.
AJJPXA, that freckling on the doors sounds like it MIGHT be rusting of ferric dust on the paint's surface (like from the brakes and such). If not cleaned off before being 'stored' it can easily stain paint. If that is the case, a good polishing will often remove it. Don't just wax it in...

i got about 6k miles, and i have 4 chips on the hood, 1 near the grill, another by the wheelwell. also got 2 scratches. still trying to find touchup paint before they all start to rust, but no dealer around here has it in stock, and it's taking forever for the order to come in. i want to fill in those gaps, then polish, seal, and wax.
