All the supplies that I'll need for a proper wash

shut off valve, quick connector, hose nozzle w/ attached male connector

rinse bucket plus wash mitts softening in soap water bucket

spraying off the wheels and tires

foaming up the wheels/tires

after

rinsing everything loose off the paint

foam pre-rinse

foaming up the wash mitt

gently gliding the mitt over the paint while spraying foam at the contact point.

enjoy!

You should wash your wheels LAST as they are generally the dirtiest part of the car. Getting that grime and brake dust on your wash mit before washing the rest of your car with that mit is a very bad idea, and will help cause swirls.

any autopian knows to soak the wheels first. also, why would you use the same wash mitt on your paint that you use on your wheels? i use a couple of microfiber cloths on my wheels and they will never touch my paint.

I know this, you know this, and a those that care about their paint do as well, but the casual noob wandering into this thread would not given the sequencing of your pictures.

yeah guys, separate mitts for the wheels. paint mitts don't ever touch them, period.

switch out your paint mitts often also. dirt gets trapped in them even after rinsing in the rinse bucket. you wouldnt really want that rubbing against your paint now would you?

I dont use a washmit for my wheels. I just spray on the tire cleaner and rinse it off. Then I spray on the wheel cleaner, use a brush with it, and rinse it off.

I like to go over it with Maguires quick detailer afterwards (if i dont wax it). Gives a good shine, no water marks and is fast.

i need a foam gun like that. I also suggest getting a duster for your car. great after your car has been sitting in the garage for a while and you dont have time for a full wash.

I also see you have 5 mits, why so many?
What about drying towels and which ones to get?
I have an air compressor and see I could use that but do I need an special adapter?

BTW, I'm doing a lot of research on cleaning and wax today so people like you stop asking me if my car is flint mica.

Here's Mothers Detailed Guide which really helps.

http://www.mothers.com/detailguide/detailguide.html

I spray bug/tar remover on the front first so all the bugs soak up and easier to take off. You should clean the tires first since they ARE the dirtiest. You don't want to spray the tires and have crap spray over the areas you already cleaned.
