i came home yesterday, and one of my hubcaps was missing. so i decided to go to the other side, and see what kind of force it take to take it off. and it came off "like buttah" soo i called the dealer and told him that these wher not on right at all. and he called back with. 50 dollers to order hubcaps. that may not seem like much but its plastic. anyone else have loosey goosey hubcaps?. im riding on stealies till i get other rims.

Rolling on Steel is fun :D Yeah, I actually did notice that while I had the stock covers, the covers started to wedge out of the rim. Although non of them actually did fell out.

Sorry to hear about that happening to you bro...Thank you for the heads up though...I'm rolling on hubcaps too right now, and I'm definitely going to be checking on them more often now...

Good luck on getting some new rims...I'm saving money for some myself...The hubcaps gotta go

Since a lot of folks go for aftermarket wheels, there should be an ample supply of stock hubcaps about. Ask around here and specify the style and you might well find what you need.

You're right that the hubcaps are rather cheesy. Mine have stayed on for 9000 miles with no problem, but if they get a bit dislodged they come off very easily.

true, I'm not close enough, but most people in this forum are going to ahve extras.

I had a contour. Every 3/5 of them were missing hubcaps. pita

Heh heh, when my wheels arrived a few months back, I got all set to switch them out. I got my fatty flat head screwdriver and prepared to pry off the stock.hub caps. I squated down and grabbed hold of the cap and before I could even get my pry on, the cap came off in my hands and I almost fell back on my a$$. Yeah, they come off easy.

Only $50? Most stealerships charge over $90 for dinky 14 inch ones.

Default how about baby moons

To dress up on the cheap, to look more unique than most alloy wheels- how about quality "baby moon" caps?

Are these still made?

Sure are.

www.mooneyes.com

However, the Scion wheels lack the bumps on the center "bulge" that hold this type of hubcap on. Three little beads from a wire welder would fix this, though!

Thanks, George! Say, I probably was using the wrong name, baby moons. I am wanting a full wheel cover like this model called "spacer" from the Moon web store:

http://69.20.89.230/index.asp?PageAc...ROD&ProdID=385

And if the surface is optically true and the plating brilliant like a mirror, this makes a really handsome look today, more than 70 years after the style first appeared on Detroit's most classic iron.

BTW folks- these caps cost only $85 per set of four! Can't imagine that price unless the quality sucks. But... the seller specializes in street rod and speed gear. Rodders are quality demanding people- at least for the looks department.

Get the full moon with a cross bar (they have) and you are keeping faith with a car from the distant past that's worth a couple hundred grand today.

These moons are EZ to wash clean, too. Nothing to it. I like. Will get when I get my Xb.

Thanks again, George- much obliged to you sir

Those caps look nice! I'm working on some salt flat discs for my xB. The only thing to worry about is whether the cap will clear the wheel hub. FWD wheels have hubs that protrude further out than the cars for which these caps were designed.

Default hubcraps

I too was surprised at the little effort it took to remove a hubcap one-handed on my XA. Actually, I was preparing to do a cheap and classy mod when doing it.

I matched up a Chrysler-Daimler Cranberry color exactly to the black cherry pearl of the XA...it was exact. So I painted the black on the steel wheel wheels in that color, clear coated it, and put the caps back on. It looks very classy and only cost about $5.00 total.

Of course, I was debating on putting the caps back on because it looked pretty good with out. But the wife had the final say.
