its more than likely stored in the ecu, you cant reset your mileage by disconnecting your guage cluster. people put aftermarket ones in.

Volt Multi Meter......... lol I wasnt looking to "cheat" the milage in any way. I wanted to shave off the cluster and build a HUD unit, I think that would be F'ing wierd but neat at the same time. Im already working on a mold of the upper portion of the dash.

I doubt mileage is stored in the ECU. Should your ecu fail. and you buy new one, your odometer will reset to zero. I doubt that would fly.

the milage is in the gauge cluster and not in the ECU when you order a new one from toyota they have to program the milage the same i you buy an aftermarket cluster. IT IS ILLEGAL to tamper with the cluster. some car are tracked from toyota and it will tell the mwhat the vehicles accutal milage is and if is deferent than what the OD says you will be in deep sh*t. <----edited for bad language. Becareful, the moderators are watching!

It starts at 0 again!!!!!I was at around 6,000 miles at the time, and supposedly im supposed to call the dmv to notify them of this, but many told me that 6,000 miles aint woth it, so i didnt..

he guys, i used to work at a toyota dealer as a tech, and the mileage is stored i the gauge cluster, it is accesible with the computer at the dealer, that is how they program the new miles in.
