Default Interior protectant.....good or bad?

This is a topic of debate around here. Water and a microfiber cloth will clean quite well. BUT, you're not doing anything to protect the dash from UV damage like fading or cracking. I hear tons of people talk about how your car will somehow become dependant on protectants (like a crack addict). I've used interior protectants on every car I've owned for 25 years now, and I've never had a problem. I've never had a dash fade or crack and they always look good. Over the years, I've used Armorall, 303, and now my new favorite is Meguiar's NXT Interior Protectant. Even if there is some truth to the story about the dash becoming "dependant" on it, my question is....so what? It's not like I'm going to get my car hooked on it and then stop using it. It's always going to be for sale, and I'll always be willing to use it. Why should I ever need to worry about what would happen if I were to stop? Nah, I've had good luck with protectants for 25 years now. I'll keep using them. I've seen too many fadded and cracked dashes from people who were afraid to use them.

Make sure it is water based and does NOT contain "petroleum". That will eventually cause issues. That NXT is fine and Meguires makes a good one too.

ArmorAll is NOT a good chocie because it has that "crack addict" effect.

You're not the first person who's told me that. The funny thing is, Armorall is the product that I've used the most (probably for close to 23 years) and I never had a problem with it. Although, I did hear a rumor that the guy who bought one of my old cars wouldn't use Armorall on it. I heard the car was sneaking out at night and turning tricks to support it's habit.

I'm a 303 user, haven't had any issues whatsoever. Why wouldn't you want to protect the dash? cracks, no cracks. that's a toughie...

LOL...yep. I love the way 303 works, but I don't like the smell. That's one of the things I love about the new Meguiar's NXT Tech Protect; it smells great!
