Very nice.

Did you use a cleaner before the NXT?

I have used many products in teh past. And honestly, if looks are the primary concern, then hands down, just throw two coats of meguiars gold class liquid down. The problem is, it only lasts a short time. But it is the best, smooth, glossy, perfect. I just started using the tech wax on my scion because it gets cold up here, and the winters are a tough time to wax a car. I will say, the gloss and feel of the paint is terrible in comparison. BUt then again, i waxed it over two months ago and the water still beads smaller than a nickle. So, I will use tech wax in the fall and winter, and gold in teh spring.

I just picked up my 07 NBM tC from the dealer about 2 weeks ago, and it has either been two cold, or raininig or snowing every weekend since, so I haven't had a chance to get it looking as good as I would like to take pictures.

My question is however, what do you guys use to strip off the old wax before putting on the NXT?
I mean should I worry about what wax the dealer used when they preped my car and strip it off?

I always here you should strip the old stuff before switching brands or putting new wax on.
Is Dawn Dish Soap really the answer here? Or is there something else I can use that will strip the wax but not the clearcoat or paint.

I think that when you wash it and then use the "Smooth Surface Clay Kit" also by Meguires it will take off the old wax and also other dirt and grime. If you go to Meguires website there's videos on there that expalin everything, very helpful.
...oh and definetly DO NOT use dish soap.

Just wash with dish soap and it will strip off old wax for the most part.
Don't do it when you want your wax to stay on!

Dish soap will strip most of it off. But if you use the Meguiars clay bar kit it should take all of it off, since you are claying every painted section of the car. Can anyone recommend a good high speed buffer that won't burn/melt my paint?

Any brand that is a random orbital buffer. The random orbits make it almost idiot proof. I picked up a Craftsman ROB on sale at Sears for $20. It's a six incher so it takes a little longer.

Edit-

Thought I'd add a pic.

Meguiars have any good high speed buffers? Worried about picking up a random buffer. Here's the damage to my car from buffing it...almost a year ago.

I agree with what Neothin posted in that thread:

a defect like that makes me think something on the machine hit the paint...

I don't think Meguairs make buffers.

Very nice pictures! I have a year old xB that i've washed maybe... twice? lolol....

I am wondering - with the NXT tech wax, do you just rub that into the car and then wash it off after a while? I dont know about waxing cars or even cleaning (in general =P) so I am wondering how i can achieve the same effect...

I am wondering if I can just apply that wax, let it sit for like half an hour - then go to the carwash to wash it off? I live in manhattan and don't have access to a hose anywhere... unless i open up a hydrant here in time square... l0l0l0l

thanks for the advice in advance!

The wax has to be buffed off.

1. Wash car and dry (I use a chamois to dry mine)
2. Apply your wax.
3. Allow wax to dry to a haze
4. Remove excess wax by buffing with a terrycloth or microfiber towel
5. Enjoy your shiny car!
