Default Meguiar's Scratch X

I just recently bought the product Meguiar's Scratch X to try to cover up or remove this scratch from my car when I was opening an umbrella while still halfway in the car. The metal tips around the umbrella scraped acrossed the driver's side quarter panel when I opened it and left a a pretty decent size scratch. Not deep at all, but you can actually see beneath the paint which is a white color on my Black Sand Pearl. I'm not sure whether I'm using the product correctly or is that scratch a little too much to take off with Scratch X? Any tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Directly from the master minds at Meguiar's on the best way to remove defects by hand using ScratchX:

ScratchX is good stuff, if the scratch is deep, then you may have to apply it again.

Maybe check out the 3 step polish system they have... the 1st step is the oxodizer.. usually gets rid of small scratches and blemishes.. I'd reccomend it!

He's just trying to get rid of one scratch. DC#1 (Step 1 of the Deep Crystal system) will remove oxidation, light swirls and scratches...it's also non-abrasive. I'm pretty sure that ScratchX is stronger than DC#1.

The 3 step system is good if you're just getting into detailing your car. Personally, I use Meguiar's #80 which is a cleaner/polisher in one but when applied by hand it isn't as effective as ScratchX. #80 is better suited when applied by a machine but works well applied by hand as well.

hmm... i just went to walmart and got scratch x and it didnt do anything.

the car is clean, i applied the scratch x in a small area an let it dry to a haze for like 5 min, then wiped it off with microfiber towels. and then used the gold class wax and i can still see the scratches and swirls.

ScratchX isn't a product you wipe on, let dry, and wipe off. You have to work the product into the finish until it looks like you're running out of product...then you can wipe it off, check the finish, if there's still a swirl or a scratch, do it again. ScratchX isn't all that aggresive, if it's a deep scratch you could try doing it a few times until it's gone.

Not a problem. I'm all about spreading the gospel of Meguiar's. I love their products. As a matter of fact, I've been running back and forth inside/outside doing my tC with the #80 speed glaze and then giving a coat of NXT Liquid wax...gives the NBM a nice wet/dark shine.

ScratchX doesn't hide scratches, it removes them. I'm almost positive there are no fillers in it at all.
