MONROE 5870 INSTALL
Here is the install for the 5987. http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f26/277...monroe-shocks/
I bought the Monroe 5870 because my vehicle is lowered so this is the perfect fit. I need help with the following. It says in the step after removing the shock, to remove the cover, clean it up and re-use it, this 5870 shock seems to have a solid metal cover? So i do not need the stock cover right?
Also, in this picture you can see the cover which looks different from the 5987 which is just a solid black tube. This is why I believe the stock covering is not used correct
Now in this picture, i have 2 rubber bushings, two washers and a nut. After I cut the plastic tie off, I just place these on top?
Would I simply put the bushing on, then a washer, another bushing, then another wash and then a nut? I want to install the shocks myself as they seem pretty easy, I just don't know what these little pieces are for. I know a crapload of people have installed the 5870's themselves but no one has a DIY or pictures of it. If anyone has done them or knows how to answer my questions please let me know, you'll save me 180 install + my cost for the shocks I already payed for.

Hello there. I'd recommend sending a Private Message to Tomas. I have a feeling that he might be able to provide some assistance with your question.
And also, not lots of people frequent the maintenance forum so you might have better luck reposting in the xB suspension or xB general forum.
Best of luck.
