I'm sorry. There really isn't one.

You'd expect a carmaker like Toyota to stand by all their makes of car, but they use the cheapest paint possible on their 'Toyota' brand cars.

The paint on their 'Lexus' brand is literally rock solid.

I complained about the same thing to the dealership when I started getting rock chips on my tC, and they basically told me to shove it.

Yet another problem Toyota fails to mention while touting the 'reliabilty' of their product line.

Sure, it'll run for 300,000 miles, it just won't have any paint left.

You guys all complain too much! I say this because I detail cars for a living. The reason why your black xB has paint flaking off is becuse tree sap, bird droppings or both has fallen onto the surface of your paint. Well, since your xB is black, the sun did its magic and baked those contaminants into the paint.

I have seen the same spots on just about every dark green and black Audi, Jaguar, and Lexus that I have detailed......

Its not just a Toyota thing.

And, If you talk to any longtime body/paint man, they will tell you the thinner the paint the better. Too many layers of paint/clear will eventually lead to "crows feet" in the clear.....

That totally looks like paint damage from something
dripped on your paint.. That doesn't look like a factory defect at all.

Is that paint bubbled up or what. The photo looks really odd, like it's got comet on it or something?

Default Paint Chipping off Everywhere...What up with that ?

I bought my XA in March of 2005 and very happy with it but before I left for my vacation i noted I had paint chips in a few places ! I called the dealer and asked if the car had a top coat...He said yes! Then I saw a post in here some one was asking if anyone had a problem with paint chipping off way to easy!

My frind noted it look as if the car only had one coat of paint, and the chips kep coming! I drove my car home to Topeka Kansas from Reno Nevada and avoided getting behind 18 wheels and if on happen to pull out in front of me I would drop back !

Well I mad it home to kansas done my visiting and return back to Reno and wow Paint chip city, I still have my ford Escort GT and it's been shot twice with a BB gun and all was done was the dimple the paint stayed on !

If someone knows more about this problem I'm willing to join in and confront Toyota about thisd mater! I have 6,700 miles on mine now and just don't like how easy the paint flyes off! Please contact me at ( BLKACE1@aol.com ) The Name Is JJ and the webmaster of http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RenoHPD/

Thier is a difference between a rock hitting a car, and a smooth bb pellet.....

The bottom line is, it wouldnt matter if your scion had 35 coats of paint. If a rock, sap, or bird ____ landed on your paint, your going to see marks.

Why do you think there is products called ROCKBLOCKER?, or 3M's paint protection film. why do you thing people put these products on thier brand new (more expensive) car?

Because, as I stated before, If you put too many layers of paint on a car, it will get "crows feet" in the clear....

are rock traveling 60 MPH, no matter how many layers of paint, will leave a mark on your paint!

Do you think I make this stuff up?

Some people one scionlife complain that "My 1990 _________ _________ had better paint than than my scion"

B.S!

I detail cars for a living, I see all makes and models, driven by all different backrounds of people. Not one car the I've detailed from the mid 90's is "flawless"

You guys are all suffering from what I call "new car syndrome"

You see all these marks on your once brand new scion, And them blame Toyota.....

If your paint is flaking off like it does on the old Neon's then you have a problem!

well i just wanna know what i can do about it ?! touch up paint ?!?!?

on the side i don't think anyone who bought a "NEW" car would expect paint to come off w/in 10 months,of course unless something hit it . i drive it, i wash it, and i park in the shade, as normal as normal can be, plus i'm in hawaii how hot can it get ?! no dead bugs or tree sap on my car, just bird crap but like i said i had a tercel for 10 years and lots of bird crap but paint still good after washing.
