Default Pedastal spoiler owners...

I was wondering if any of you are having the same problem I am, hopefully I can explain... Whenever I wash my car, water collects in the very small space where the spoiler is conected to the hatch. No matter how much I try to soak it up (chamois, fiber towel, ect.) there still seems to be water built up. The only reason I care, is that it eventually runs down the back hatch and bumper, and is beginning to leave hard-water stains in the paint. My first thought was to seal it somehow, but with what? it is such a small space. My dealer was useless and had no suggestions, but I'll be dammed if I let my spoiler and the crappy city water ruin my nice Flint Mica paint. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh, and my cousin who has an IIP is having the same problem...

Mine does that too. Bugged me at first but now I just use compressed air to blow it out.

I blow dry my tC with a $40 electric leaf blower to clear most of the water off and out of the crevises. The grill ,wheels and spoiler are bad but this really helps on the mirrors. Raise the rear hatch. dry again.Finish it off with a soft microfiber cloth. Done.

After I installed my ped. spoiler, I ran a small bead of the clear 3M body sealer underneath. I sealed all around, but left a small gap at the back for condensation run off. I don’t have any problems with water getting underneath there anymore and you can’t see the sealant.

I used a small syringe with the curved tip, like you’d get from a dentist’s office to run the bead under the pedestals.

Hope this helps.

Every car that I've owned that came with a factory spoiler has done this exact same thing. I'd just drive it around for a few minutes and then wipe it off.
