Please Help! Road paint and swirling!
Ok guys dont hate on me yet. First I hit 2 deer in my 2006 BCP xB. The body shop that fixed it has caused more damage to my paint than the original claim. SEVERE Swirling on my drivers side front and rear doors. In the sun It looks like a record literally and the color looks purple. Its not BCP! Well about a month ago I was driving near a construction zone and they got silver road paint overspray all over the car. So here it is How do I fix all of this paint damage! First I need to remove the road paint. I have head clay bar but this is the whole car. Hood, doors, roof, bumpers, liftgate, etc. Then the swirls. I have never got a straight answer on that and I have tried Mcguiers scratch X and NXT wax. Took the swirls away for 1 DAY. I am so heart Broken. This is my first brand new car ever and I love it so much. I can barely afford the car let alone having to repaint the whole thing $3,000-$4,000. Any help you guys can give please let me know. As far as the body shop goes they wont stand behind their hideous work and neither will my insurance company. Any one been down that road before?
Those products are useless for removing swirls...they are simply fillers.
The only way to remove swirls is by using an Orbital/Circular buffer, but you have to know what you are doing because circular buffers can burn through the paint. The other option is a dual action buffer like the one from Porter Cable. These are much safer for a beginner because they are much less abbrasive, but that also means it takes a lot more time/work to remove swirls.
Check out http://autogeek.net for loads of details on removing/treating swirls as well as overall car care.
I've used a Dual action Porter Cable with Menzerna Intense Polish and Finishing Polish on my black Corvette with great results. The swirls on black are a pain in the butt, and they never really go away, but it helps. I'm too nervous to use a circular myself.
From the sounds of how bad your swirls are, you probably need a well known professional to do it with a circular...

So who paid the body shop? You or insurance? If insurance do they guaranty the work? And who was doing the road work--the city, the state. Go after the company that caused the problem.
As far as burning the paint the body shop did that several times and had to fix that. I had that car back to that body shop 9 times in 2 months for everthing from paint runs to bare metal/rust. The insurance company refuses to go after the body shop or even look at my car because it did not go to their shop. I have taken it to other body shops and the first thing they say is WHO DID THIS! Next thing we wont help you. They say they dont want to be involved. As far as the road paint goes it is in city limits about a month ago. I havent called the city or anything because i'm sure thats a losing battle there. It looks like someone added metallic silver flake to black cherry pearl paint. Its even on my windows.

Dude you are having nothing but problems. As soon as you saw the silver spray you should have contacted the city and started a paper trail. Now that you've waited a month you may be SOL. Try taking it to a detail shop and get an estimate to get it looking somewhat normal. They may be able to help.
i would try the clay bar in a small area using it with soapy water as a lubricant. move the clay back and forth until you dont hear or feel the overspray. do not use force, and be patient. if it does work it will be worth it. on the glass you can use steel wool, this is also helpful for bug guts on the windshield. use OO or finer for general cleaning and more abrasive for the heavy stuff. same as with the clay dont try to force it, you can scratch glass.
on your paint, if it is basecoat/clearcoat paint most mistakes can be removed with time and a few items, but you cant also mess it up pretty good if you are not careful. try a detail shop, they should be able to buff it out, or maybe even wetsand it . around here(ky) its 100-200 dollars depending on the work

ok the over spray I didnt even notice. I actually did but I thought it was just dust. My friend pointed that out and I was like oh shiznas! Thats road paint. As far as the bodyshop goes this shop is supposedly the best around. At least they were at one time. I have had a few cars repaired there. Excellent work! This time they screwed me big time. I have been to detail shops and they say they MIGHT be able to remove the swirls. Either way no permanent guarantee on that or they wont touch it. So I am stuck with a repaint which I cant afford, or add some vinyl graphics to the doors.
I'll have to get a pic of the swirls. I'm pretty sure thats what they did to the car to cause it in the first place is tried to buff it. I have a really good digital camera but getting a sunny day and my car being clean at the same time this time of year in Ohio is gonna be the problem.

tat2dude25 , I say take it to a professional detail place and get it re-buffed properly. If they do it right your swirls should be history. I buff/wheel out mine all the time and have no swirl marks just extremely shiny factory paint.
