I was cleaning my car today and noticed the oil change sticker on the windsheild. It says to have it changed at 8,000 and i'm currently at 8,100 and my maintenance light has not been on. The last time I changed my oil was a little over 5,000.

So my question is, should I change it now like it said on the sticker or wait until my maintenance light comes on?

 

You still got 1900 miles to go. Intervals are 5k for the oil change.

 

For dino, I'd go 4000 miles.
If you go to synth (which I use and recommend) you can extend.
You're fine.

3k is a waste unless conditions are severe.

Maybe a waste to some but I have less trouble with over-maintained vehicles.

 

"Severe service" is what most people think of as normal driving. 85% of drivers fall under the "severe service" catagory. The only kind of driving thats not "severe service" as "when you slowly drive a couple of miles to a freeway, go 25 or more miles on the freeway, then slowly drive a mile or so off the freeway, coasting to a stop."

3K miles between changes is a good bet.
